Sophia waited till everyone was asleep to begin her plan. She snuck quietly over to her papa's door and placed her palm on it.
Lot's of knew information and images about the door filled her head. But she didn't care about that she cared to know why the light left. Because that would tell her, or at least give her a clue as to where he was.
She saw her papa having the vision of Mirabel, smashing it, and leaving his room. But there was nothing to indicate where he was.
She began to cry in frustration and disappointment. She left the door and wondered the house touching everything hoping to find her papa.
She touched the painting next to Dolores's door and saw that it wasn't an ordinary painting. She saw that it was a secret passage, made by her papa!
She opened the painting door immediately and went inside the walls. She looked around walking through the walls and walkway made by Bruno.
Her surroundings looked lonely and scary. With each step she knew her papa also stepped there. She knew how long he had been back here. And how lonely he's been.
She kept waking till she saw a very faint light. She walked towards it and saw a small room. Her papa was asleep on a red armchair with several pieces of crumpled up paper around him.
She ran up to him and hugged him immediately. He woke up with a start and looked down at his daughter stunned.
"Sophia?" She held onto him even tighter and cried. "I finally found you, I've missed you so much papa."
She continued to cry holding onto Bruno tightly. Scared that he would leave if she let go.
He kissed her head and returned her embrace. "I've missed you too, I'm sorry for leaving please forgive me."
She shook her head, "there's nothing to forgive. I know why you left now. I blame Abuela not you."
They stayed silent holding eachother close. Bruno spoke up, "I'm so proud of you Sophia. You were so brave walking up the stairs to your door."
She lifted up her face, "you were there?" He smiled and caressed her cheek. "I would never miss my own daughters gift ceremony."
She smiled and looked down at the paper curiously. "May I ask what those are for?"
Bruno chuckled, "why don't you see for yourself." She nodded remembering her gift. She grabbed one of the paper balls and her eyes glowed. She saw her papa writing something down and then crumbling up the paper throwing it aside.
She carefully opened it and read what was inside. Sophia I know it must be strange to get this letter. You've probably forgotten about me. But I just want you to know how much I love you.
She opened up the next one. Mija I love you and I'm sorry I haven't been there for you.
She opened another and another. She looked up at Bruno sadly and hugged him. "I love you so much papa. Please don't feel guilty."
Bruno held her close and had a few tears in his eyes. He let let a shaky breath and kissed his daughters head. "What did I do to deserve the most perfect little girl."
They stayed int the chair and fell asleep in eachothers embrace. Both so happy to be reunited again.
