EP5 - Common Room Fiasco

Akshara almost yawned, walking towards the cabin she was allotted. She should have been excited about her first day of the job, but last night Neil and she were clubbing till 2 AM.

With his company, she didn't even realize the time. At 7 AM, she was already drowsy in her sleep and just wanted the day to end.

"I should drink some coffee to boost me up, otherwise I'd sleep here only"

She went towards the common room, where the coffee machine was. Some HR person had shown her around yesterday, otherwise, she would go in the wrong rooms again and get scolded by people like Mr. Chidkuram.

As she walked into the room, she saw someone sleeping on the sofa, his whole body covered in a thin sheet-like blanket.

"Must be an intern- the hospital people are too zaalim to overwork these baby interns. Let me ask him if he wants a coffee to refresh himself."

As Akshara moved closer to him, her eyes widened in horror at the sight in front of her. She looked around to find anything like a weapon for the self-defence against her arch-nemesis. She spotted an orange-coloured plastic bat, the ones toddlers use.

"Best weapon!!!"

She tiptoed slightly not to wake the devil up and slowly grabbed the bat. Getting her weapon ready, she stood in a defensive position. As the person sleeping moved slightly, waking up from his slumber. He removed the blanket from his face to a sight making his eyes widen.

As he was about to say something, he saw the crazy girl shouting a war cry and hitting his stomach brutally with a bat?... a fucking toy bat?" Abhimanyu doubled in pain at the sudden hit.

"Ouch! What the fuck?!!!" He screamed as he rubbed his stomach and got up from his sleeping position.

Abhimanyu turned his glaring eyes towards his attacker and shouted at the 'Badtameez girl' from yesterday.

"Are you fucking mad? What are you trying to do? Killing me in my most vulnerable state? Psycho woman, have you gone nuts? Who hits someone in their sleep? Abhimanyu ranted as he stood in front of her, almost intimidating her with his height.

Akshara looked up at him sheepishly, her eyes held guilt and shame. Her hand immediately dropped the weapon she used to hit him. She coughed up to cover up her embarrassment.

"Ahh.. it's... I'm sorry. I wasn't intentionally hitting you or anything. I just saw a spider on your blanket and wanted to kill it, but I didn't realize that I'll hurt you in the process." She smiled foolishly at him, making him angrier than he was.

He ran his fingers through his multiple times, pacing up and down in the room, calming himself down to not vent up his anger on a girl. His mother has taught him better. He took a deep breath and stood in front of her.

"So you're saying you wanted to kill the innocent spider, just because he was sleeping on my blanket and that too with a bat? Don't you know how much it hurts? What is wrong with you girl?" Abhimanyu almost lost control of her but tried to calm himself down.

"INNOCENT?!! And that too a spider?" Akshara shrieked. "Those vicious eight-leg monsters are the most creepy creatures on this planet and you call them innocent? Was he your pet that you know he was 'innocent'?" Akshara air quoted with her fingers and looked at him like he was some mad creature.

"Also, I used a toy bat to kill him, you know what toddlers use to play with, made of cheap plastic. You got hurt by that?" She looked at him up and down.

"You look like you go to the gym and have decent muscles-abs, whatever you call them and you felt hurt by a toy bat. Are you serious? You should just change your gym, there is no need for those fake abs that gets pricked by a small thing." Akshara advised and Abhimanyu took deep breaths, shaking his head side by side.

"Control Abhi! Control! She is not worthy of your anger! Calm down! Don't kill her in your anger! Control!"

Akshara looked at him breathing heavily as if he was going to lose control.

"Oye! Are you okay? Sorry yaar, I didn't know you were so hurt by a bat. I promise I would not use that anymore to kill or hurt anyone. Do you want some water, tea or coffee? I was going to ask you about the same when all this happened."

Akshara asked him in concern and before his head was going to explode listening to her nonsense talks, Abhimanyu moves her out of the way and heads out the common room, shutting the door with a loud thud. Akshara looked confused at his behaviour.

"What happened to him now?" She asked herself
