FOUR

"Okay back in the day, Kurapika was soooo bossy!" Killua laughs.

"He was not!" I cross my arms. "He just knew exactly what he wanted and made sure he got his way."

"Yeah, but you don't always need to get your way, (Name). I actually think it's better that some things didn't happen."

"Okay, well I didn't ask for you guys to argue about my dad." Rowan sighs. "I just want to hear a story about him."

"How about that birthday he set up for (Name)?" Gon suggests, glancing around the room.

"Yeah! That's a good one, Gon!" Leorio chimes in.

•sixteen years ago•

"Who are you whispering to, Kura?" Kurapika was in the other room, but I could hear soft murmurs through the walls.

"Sorry," He sighed, coming out from the room. "Just getting kind of stressed about work."

"So you were whispering?" I laugh.

"Just trying to get a plan going through my head. I'm sorry if I bothered you."

"Not at all." I smile, placing my arms around his neck.

"So, it's your birthday, (Name)." He smiles, pecking my lips.

"Yeah."

"There might be-" A knock at the door interrupted Kurapika as I turned around to go open the door.

"SURPRISE!" Killua, Gon and Leorio stood at the door, shouting to me.

"Okay, okay!" Kurapika worriedly pushed me away from them. "No need to yell, alright."

"Sorry, but that's how surprises work." Leorio said matter-of-factly. "We got you gifts, (Name)." They all held plenty of gifts between the three of them and set them down in the living room.

"Got the food." Killua stated, placing the food boxes on the counter.

"No, Killua! I could have made something."

"Relax," He sighed. "This is your day, alright?"

"Happy birthday, (Name)!" Gon smiles, pulling me into a bug hug.

"Thank you so much, Gon."

"Hey, we should eat." Leorio said, coming back into the room. "Before the food gets too cold."

Killua had ordered separate boxes for everyone here with their favorite meals. It took me by surprise that Killua had actually spent the time to memorize everyone order. He always puts up some crazy cold front, but it's obvious that he cares. Gon is the opposite. He cares and he'll show it.

"How's you even know I liked this?" I ask, poking around at the food. Ive never actually mentioned this food to him because we haven't really gone anywhere that serves this kind of stuff.

"I honestly didn't know what to get you so I just called Kurapika. He was whispering on the phone  when he answered which was so weird."

"I was keeping (Name) from listening in on one of their surprises, Killua. Cause, y'know, I kind of live with them!"

I smile to myself, glancing down at the plate in front of me. I know that there was another reason Kurapika want to invite everyone here for my birthday. It's actually something we spent a lot of time discussing and we decided everyone should know.

"Did you get some cake, Killua?" Gon questions, quickly finishing his food.

"Yeah. (Cake flavor), (Name)'s favorite."

"(Name) has such great taste!" Leorio comments, wiping his mouth clean.

I saw that everyone was almost done with their meal, so I decided that I should pick up the pace if I didn't want to sit at a table with everyone watching me eat.

It brought a smile to my face that all these people just came here for my birthday. That they could have made some excuse to just not come, but here they are. When I lost everything in my life back when I was younger, I never imagined that I would actually have a chance to meet the great people that I have. And I'm glad that the ones I met were genuine. And that they're here because they genuinely love me.

I quickly finished my plate.

"PRESENTS!" Gon suddenly yelled. Kurapika jumped a bit and then started scolding Gon for being too loud.

"You've never had a problem with us yelling." Leorio mumbled, crossing his arms. "What's the big deal?"

I raised my eyebrows to Kurapika. We were planning to tell them about it.

"We'll tell you after (Name) opens their presents."

"You didn't burst your eardrum, did you?" Killua questions. I shake my head laughing.

"No, we'll tell you later."

•later•

"Thank you so much!" I smile, gazing down at all the opened presents. Either Kurapika helped chime in with every present, or they overheard some of my conversations where I described the perfect gift.

"Sooooo," Gon starts, rolling his eyes over to the side. "Can you maybe tell us why we are prohibited to yell around you?"

Leorio chuckles, laying back in his seat. "I get it. That's amazing, you two."

"What?" Gon and Killua ask at the same time.

"Do you want to say or should I?" Kurapika asks, sitting down behind me and wrapping his arms around me.

"I can do this." I whisper back, glancing around the room. "So, there's actually some really big news and we were going to tell you guys about a week ago, but then we realized everyone would be over for my birthday so we just decided to save the news until now."

"So what's the news?" Killua asks.

"I'm pregnant."

Everyone's eyes (except for Leorio's who had a knowing smirk on his face) widened in surprise.

"You're having a baby?" Gon cheers, covering his mouth to keep himself from letting out too much noise.

Even Killua had a wide smile stretching over his face.

"If you guys want, we were hoping you guys would like to be the baby's uncles."

Gon and Killua jumped up from the couch, hugging each other and jumping around. "We're going to be uncles!"

It surprised me to realize that Leorio might me the most mature around the baby than Gon and Killua would be.

"That's so amazing, (Name). This is such good news."

Everyone flooded around me, pulling me into a tight hug and congratulating me.
