After the picture of the two of us, my life changed very quickly. Turns out that when a hero gets a girlfriend who nobody knows, it's world news. It didn't take long that morning for the whole driveway was filled with journalists. They all wanted a picture of Katsuki and I. To make their hunt a little more difficult, we close all the curtains in the house. All of these journalists makes me panic. The panic got so bad that I ended up hyperventilating and I had to lie down in a fetus position on the floor. Katsuki hasn't yet noticed. He is standing at the front door, yelling at the journalists to go away, with comments such as: "That's none of your business." All sorts of threats followed by a "You're on private property so you better be off now." Once they realized they weren't going to get any answers and had taken enough pictures, they left. "Well that's finished." he says proudly, walking back into the room. He sees me laying on the floor, he runs over to me and puts his arms around me. This calms me down, just enough to help me breathe again. "If this is too much for you, I totally understand if you don't want to see me anymore." he sounds defeated. 'No' I answer back firmly. He gives me a questioning look. 'No, I don't want to leave, it's just a lot and all very new. I'm just scared.' I quickly cover my mouth with my hand as I say this last part. 'Shit I shouldn't have said that.' I think to myself. I expect him to let me go and start laughing at my fear. Instead, he presses me against himself. "It's okay to be scared. I'm here for you and I'll always protect you." He kisses me on my forehead. "Is that the reason you haven't been sleeping?" he asks. I nod lightly. After a moment of silence, I ask: 'You must think I'm weak. You've probably never been scared.' "WILL YOU STOP SAYING THAT YOU'RE WEAK!" he's clearly frustrated by my comments. "I'll tell you something, I have been scared. I have nightmares and I haven't been sleeping either. I dream of things that happened in my past. Last night was the first good night's rest I've had in 10 years." He was shocked by the amount of information he'd just given.
We lay there on the floor, close to one another. He tells me about the time he was kidnapped by the LOV and some other shocking things that he's been through. I listen to his stories in total silence. Surprised by his sudden openness and vulnerability. The rolls had reversed in comparison to our first date. Katsuki talked, I listened. After he was done telling me his stories, I kiss him on his lips. He answers this kiss with greed. When our lips separate I thank him for opening up to me. We are taken out of this moment by the growling of my stomach. "Right.. I was making you food." He says while helping me up. Together we walk back to the kitchen.
After 3 more days of taking things slowly at Katsuki's, I finally got permission from my doctor to go back to work. On the one hand, I was happy with this news. but on the other hand, it meant that I had to go back outside. My going back to work brought a complicated logistical problem with it. Katsuki doesn't want me to walk to work or back home by myself. 'I'll be fine to go to work myself.' I tell him in the morning as we're walking to the front door. "Are you mad? We still don't know who's after you. So no more discussions. I'm taking you to work." I sigh, I didn't feel like having an argument about this either. It was quite a nice feeling, knowing I didn't need to wade through the sea of reporters. Together we walk to the car. I hear the harmony of different camera clicks. After which I hear people shouting his name. Without saying a word we get in the car. He had picked up my car before he'd gone back to work. A minor perk of my car was that it is less noticeable. Katsuki starts the car and drives off the driveway almost hitting a few reporters on his way. I can't help but chuckle.
We had given them nothing. On our way to my work, we say nothing to each other. When we arrive, I'm happy to just be back at work. It confuses me to see that there aren't any reporters on the playground or anywhere near the building. 'They haven't found out where I work yet?' I think to myself. Katsuki gives me a quick kiss and I get out of the car. Emma is waiting for me at the door. I look back to wave at him, but he's already driven off.
