Part 26

Recap

I put my phone back in my pocket and started walking out the cafeteria. It wasn't long after I started my walk I heard someone running up behind me.

I turn around to see the one and only Payton. With a confused look on my face I look at him with my head slightly tilted to the left.

P: so... I want to ask you something b-but I forgot..
He said as he finally got to me while scratching the back of his head.

I wonder why god is doing this to me today.

P: I'll walk with you anyway since I'm already here.
He said with a slight smile.

It looks good on him, he should do it more often.

I turn back around and continued walking as he walks beside me. We walk in comfortable silence, I was looking ahead without noticing that his full attention was on me. Getting to the bathroom,  I walked in realizing that I didn't really need to use the stall, so I washed my hands and dried them before walking out of the bathroom.

And he's still here.

Walking out seeing him still waiting at the door. I started walking back to the cafeteria with him following me.

P: me and the others are going to my house later to play some games, you can come if you want.
He said but soon my gaze widen as I saw Harvey ahead of us. Payton seems to notice this too as I halt in my steps. Payton's facial expression quickly changed as he locked eyes with my brother. He grabs my hand gently and started walking ahead of us to get to where we're going. Harvey continues to walk our way but as soon as he got to us we walked right pass him. I once gain stoped as I felt a tight grip on my free wrist which causes Payton to stop as well.  Turning around I see Harvey holding my wrist.

H: we need to talk ,you have to stop ignoring me.
He said without letting go of my hand.

P: she doesn't have to do anything if she doesn't want to.
He said not letting go either.

H: she's my sister.

P: but you made it clear that she's nothing to you.

H: I never said that.

P: do you want to cause a scene?
He asked as they are now glaring at each other as I turned my head to realize that people started to gather around us. Turning back around with cheeks slightly flushed I started to pull my hands a little for them to get the hint and let go. Well they didn't.
Payton looks down on me then looks around to see people starting to gather around us the went to look back at Harvey.

P: let her go.

H: how about you let go.

Man I wish Chase was here he would've said something funny by now.

P: look I don't want to fight you just let go.

H: not until I talk to her.

P: your making her uncomfortable.
He said in a hushed tone.

That made Harvey loosen his grip on my wrist which I took as a opportunity to pull my hand away from him. Once free I turned on my heels and started to walk at a quick pace dragging Payton along with me. Once we were out of sight my anxiety started to take over and my hand started to shake and my breathing picked up. Payton seems to notice this and pulled me into a empty classroom. He shut the door behind us and pulled me into his chest as tears started to cloud my vision.

P: it's ok princess calm down.
He said in a gentle voice.

Again with the nicknames..... at least he smells good.

P: are you ok?
He ask after awhile.
I nod as he pulls away from the hug and looks me dead in the eye as I quickly look down to avoid eye contact. Not giving up he gently whisper to me.

P: look at me

I refuse... Please let a hole swallow me into the earth.

I shook my head to say no. He was about to say something but was cut off by my phone ringing. I looked at my phone to see the name 'future husband' is calling. I close my eyes in frustration as I realized Chase went into my phone again. I look back at the phone then at Payton seeing some type of jealousy in his eyes. Pushing the thought out of my mind I shoved my phone into his hands for him to answer it.

P: who is this.
He said once he answered.

C: Payton where is she.
He said on the other side of the call.

P: oh... Chase.
He said as his eyes gazed over to mine and he cleared his throat.

P: we're in the empty classroom down the hall from the bathroom.

C: I'm on my way.
He said and hang up the phone.

P: so.. um.
He said as he turned around to look at me.

P: did you save his name in your phone?

I shook my head no.

P: of course.
He muttered.

Chase walks through the door after 2 minutes. He instantly wrapped his arms around me which suddenly causes me to feel warm.
Pulling away he rests his hand on my shoulder and turn to Payton.

C: so why are you here?
He said with a smirk.

P: what do you mean?

C: you told me you were going to the bathroom.

P: oh.... I met her on the way there.

C: really or is it because you wanted to get her alone.
He said raising his eyebrows.

P: what's with your caller id on her phone.
He said completely ignoring Chase's comment.

C: what's wrong with it?

P: what do mean what's wrong with it it says 'future husband'

C: there's nothing wrong with it I was only stating facts.

Rolling my eyes I walked out the door leaving them in the classroom.
