Danielle's P.O.V:

"I'm not going anywhere alone"

I crossed my arms leaning on the back of the couch. My uncle, Johnny, stood in front of me with a frown on his face. He just asked me to go to the store and I wasn't in the mood to go anywhere, so I started throwing out a bunch of excuses hoping one would get to him or he'd get frustrated and ask Kyle instead.

First, I tried the, "I just got here, that's no way to treat your house guests" excuse which backfired when my mom overheard and reminded me it was as much as my house as it was theirs.

Then I went for the "It's too early to go anywhere" excuse but he only stared at me with a bored expression.

Now I'm on the, "I don't want to go anywhere alone but also not with my cousin because she's a piece of work" excuse.

He sighed, crossing his arms as well, "Fine then, take Kyle with you".

Kyle overheard this from the kitchen, "I'm not going anywhere with her Uncle Johnny".

He rolled his eyes, "You're both going and that's final, grocery list is on the fridge, the money is in the jar on top of the fridge, I suggest you get on it now and be back soon. Either way you need to leave that room else you'll spread brood all over the house".

"Wait right now?" I asked.

He nodded, "Why? Any other prior engagements today?".

I rolled my eyes, "No, nothing. We'll be back soon".

Kyle spoke up once again, "Wait if this is about Danny missing her boyfriend why am I involved?".

Uncle Johnny turned to him, "Because you've been cooped up in that phone of yours all day, you barely do anything and since you won't join any sports teams, errands are the next best sport".

Kyle sighed as he had no comebacks ready.
He grabbed the list off the fridge, took the money and we walked out of the house.

"What exactly do you do on that phone?" I asked after a minute of silence between us.

"Why do you care?" He glanced up at me and back to the phone.

I scoffed. The utter audacity, "I don't, I'm just curious. Last I checked you're a freshman who doesn't like to talk to people, so unless you're always talking to Leo, which isn't possible because Leo is not an introvert, I don't see who else you'd be talking to".

He paused slipping his phone into his pocket, "It's none of your business Danielle, last I checked you asked me to go get a life, now that I am it's a problem for you? Do you really attention that badly?".

He said all that and continued walking with his hands deep in his pockets.

"Well I said it was out of curiosity Kyle, No need to push my buttons or anything".

"And so what I push your buttons? What are you going to do? Shove me into a dumpster?" He mocked.

I stayed silent, when he decides to tease me it always gets on my nerves but I'd rather not show it.

I sighed after a while seeing as we were approaching the grocery store, "Just stop getting on my nerves and I'll stop getting on yours okay?".

He hummed, pushing the door open and walking through them. We went in to pick out the items on the list as well as a few extra things and we were done with the store in 15 minutes.

As I walked out the door, my eyes were fixed on arranging the bills of change in my hand while balancing the groceries that Kyle left for me to hold that I barely noticed the person who held the door open.
