"That was great"

Finn beaned at me as I took my fingers off the piano. We decided to speed up the process, so we had some lessons in school as well. "You're getting better each lesson".

I let out a breath. "Thanks, but I can only thank the master. You're one heck of a teacher Finn".

He shrugged. "Well I try my best I guess. But you really have a talent".

"Thanks". I smiled at him. "So anyways I need to get going. We're done here right?" I asked starting towards my bag.

He nodded. "Yeah we are, But first can I ask you something?".

I turned to him and crossed my arms, leaning on a nearby table. "Ask away".

He fidgeted, playing with his fingers. "We've spent quite some time together, gotten to know each other better and all. So I was wondering, will you go out with me? Like on a real date?"

I sighed and uncrossed my arms, sitting beside him. "Finn, I'm flattered". I chuckled mentally at my choice of words. "But I can't go out with you, I'm really sorry". I saw his face fall and I knew he got the message but I went ahead to explain. "You're a great guy, honestly. But I don't want to lead you on when I have feelings for someone else".

He stayed silent and I felt bad because I don't like hurting the feelings of people who haven't done anything to hurt me. I'm a fair person. Sometimes.

"It's Daniel right?" He spoke up after a while, sounding more like a statement than a question.

I nodded and he let out a small breath that considered to be a laugh. "Yeah I knew it, I knew it but I asked anyways. I guess I just wanted to try out my luck but that backfired. Anyways that's over now and I just hope we can still be friends".

I smiled at him. "Of course we can, that's a no-brainer. And we can still hang out like we are now okay?".

He grinned at me. "Sure no problem". He glanced at his watch and his eyes widened. "Shit! It's almost five-thirty. I gotta go Danny"

I grabbed my bag from the table. "Okay let's walk out together yeah?"

He nodded and we walked out of the classroom, out of the school and out the school doors. I heard sounds coming from the outdoor courts which let me know that practice had just let out so I would either run into Sam, Daniel or both if I didn't get out of there fast.

Finn turned to me as we stood in the parking lot of the school. "Well it was a wonderful lesson, you're picking up great speed and we're becoming even faster friends. This was a great day Danny".

I rolled my eyes lightly. "Oh Finn, you're such a charmer aren't you?".

He shrugged and took my hand and kissed it. "See you around Milady" He winked at me and walked away.

I smiled as I watched his retreating figure, then turned around to walk to my car and I saw HIM. There HE was, standing there, HIS arms crossed, backpack slung around HIS shoulder and an unreadable expressions spread across HIS face.

He started towards me and butterflies stirred up my stomach. I couldn't stop staring at him as he approached me, wearing a sweatshirt over his basketball jersey, glasses on his face, his brown hair ruffled and damp with sweat.

His lips pulled into a smirk when he noticed I was staring as he halted in front of me. "I knew you missed me".

I scowled at him and walked past him to the street out of school grounds where my car was parked. The parking lot along with other parts of the school were being renovated, no doubt from the pocket of Theodore Miller. Daniel called out to me. "Where do you think you're going?".
