Luffy's POV:
"Is that your idea of how to get service from someone at a restaurant, Luffy?" I nodded at Robin, finding her response odd.
"You mean... That's not the right way?" My eyes turned over at her as she shook her head with disappointment.
Dang it, what'd I do wrong?
"Never say that to a waiter or waitress, especially since Nami's going to be the waitress..."
"What's wrong with it?" Jeez, who knew that saying, 'GET OVER HERE!' would sound so rude.
"If I were a waitress and you shouted at me so loudly, I wouldn't like to be treated that way." Robin was trying to prove her point to me, but I couldn't understand it.
"I wasn't yelling, I was calling for service!"
"When calling out to any waiter at a restaurant, you must first make sure that they're nearby, then raise your hand like this." Copying her, I mirrored her actions and did as she instructed me to do.
"Then what?" I asked, feeling my arm growing tired after awhile of having it suspended in the air.
"Then you wait until they arrive to the table, and quietly explain to them what you want or need." This made me feel skeptical.
"What if they take FOREVER to get to the table? My arm would fall off!" She started to laugh, shaking her head at me.
"Of course it won't, there are waiters everywhere when you enter a restaurant. Their priority is always to serve the customers right away, so you won't wait long." Surprisingly, it felt kind of nice to know about these new 'techniques' oppose to doing it in my way.
"I understand now... So, is that all I need to know? I think I should get dressed now." I asked, hoping to be let off the hook. But it wasn't as easy as I thought.
Robin wasn't planning on letting me go any time soon, she reminds me of Makino when she was teaching Ace and I about common expressions and other sorts of things.
"Now, let's move onto another topic related to table manners: Dress codes."
"Dress codes?" I wondered what she meant by that, to me, a "code" is some type of padlock with numbers on it, and a dress is a dress, so those two words together sounded funny.
"What do you plan on wearing to the restaurant tonight, Luffy?" Definitely not a dress, if that's what she was implying. I shrugged softly.
"I guess any shorts would do, right? And maybe a black or red tie, or something." Touching the fabric of my Jean shorts, I tilted my head up to earn Robin's approval... Which was denied, to my misfortune.
"We'll find you something, let me take a look in your closet, or I'll see what Franky has in his that you could borrow..." Knowing all of the cool outfits and random things Franky carries with him in his closet, my jaw instantly dropped and stars appeared in my pupils as I looked over at Robin.
"I DON'T HAVE CLOTHES. FRANKY'S CLOSET, PLEASE TAKE ME TO HIS CLOSET! CAN I WEAR HIS GENERAL COSTUME? THAT WOULD BE SO BADASS."
"Franky's 'general' isn't a costume, it's a form he has, Luffy. Even if he had a costume like that, I wouldn't be able to lend it to you because it doesn't go with the dress code." My eyes looked back down at the ground.
Who knew that 'dress codes' and appearances were so important when it came to restaurants. I want to go to it to be there for Nami and Sanji, but it's a lot harder to be accepted into it than I expected.
Oh! Robin left? Where's she going?
"Please go to Franky's closet, please go to Franky's closet!" I crossed my fingers tightly like a child when blowing out their birthday candles to make a wish.
My wish then was to get to wear something from Franky's closet.
~A few minutes later~
"Oi, Robin! Are you sure this entire wardrobe change is necessary?" Now, I don't mind changing my appearance to get into places: I've done that so many times, I lost count.
But the clothing I had on right now didn't make me feel comfortable in any way, I felt too overwhelmed by the fabrics and neutral colors.
"Isn't this too much?"
"When it comes to dressing formally, nothing is ever 'too much', Luffy. You look good, see for yourself!" When she took me towards a full body mirror, I was surprised at the reflection that looked back at me.
This isn't Luffy...
"Are you ready for your blind date? It starts as soon as we get to the restaurant." I gulped.
In a way, going on this blind date was exciting... But on the other hand, I don't know how I'll react to this person I've never even met before.
And then there's the fear of things going both wrong or right.
If it goes wrong, the worst that could happen is that Nami and Sanji ban me from their restaurant and I screw everything up in between me and a complete stranger.
But what if things go right? What if I end up enjoying the date?
What if they like me afterwards?!
What happens... If I end up getting attached to them instead?
"What would happen to my relationship with Zoro?"
