Penny smiled lightly at the teacher and quickly walked to the open seat in the back if the class.

"I'm guessing you're Penelope Brown?" Ms. White asked the girl. Penny quickly nodded her head and sat down in her chair. "I don't have a huge late policy, but please make sure your in class before the announcements." the teacher politely smiled.

"Got it." Penny flashed a toothy grin at the teacher and looked down at her books.

"Don't be embarrassed. If I knew we had the same class, I would've dragged you along with me." Johnny leaned over and smiled at her lightly. Until that moment, Penny had never really noticed how pretty Johnny's eyes were. An ocean blue that only got prettier in the light.

Penny snapped out of her thoughts and payed attention to the front of the class. The teacher was going over her grading policies, rules of the classroom, and times for tutoring.

There was a small ball of paper thrown onto Penny's desk. She looks next to her and sees Johnny wink at her. She rolls her eyes and opens the piece of paper.

"You look good today.

P.S. Don't tell Bobby I said this. He'll beat my ass.

-Johnny Lawrence"

Penny looked down at her outfit and then looked at Johnny. He was looking forward with a grin plastered on his face.

Seemed like after the break up with Ali and the fact that Penny's confidence is finally showing, Johnny Lawrence finally saw Penny Lane Brown for the woman she was.

Penny honestly didn't mind. Any sort of validation she can get from the male species, she'll take.

The only problem was the fact that Bobby was so god damn protective of Penny. It wasn't like she was in fourth grade and was getting bullied by the older kids on the playground. She wasn't a little kid anymore. She didn't need her older brother to protect her. She could make decisions on her own.

After the teacher was done giving her short speech, she gave the class time to talk and get to know each other. Penny bit her lip and started doodling on her notebook. She made quick glances over to the boy next to her. She noticed that he was just blatantly staring at Penny. Not an ounce of shame.

"Whatcha drawing over that short stuff?" Johnny whispered

"What's with this nickname all of a sudden?"

"I don't know. I like it."

"Well don't call me that."

"Would you rather me call you princess?"

Penny deadpanned at Johnny.

"How about no nicknames. I think Bobby would have a stroke if he found out you had a special nickname for me"

"I think if Bobby found out nothing would happen," Johnny said quietly while leaning in closer to Penny, "because he won't find out."

Penny realized how close they were in that moment. Her heart started racing, but she had no idea why. It was Johnny Lawrence, the boy who clogged her bathroom toilet as a joke. He was a dickhead to Penny for as long as she can remember. So why was he now acting like this towards Penny?

"You've got beautiful eyes." Penny mumbled out.

"Oh do I now? Well yours aren't too bad, if I do say so myself." Johnny jokes around. Penny felt embarrassed because of what she just muttered. "Now listen I'm not gonna do any of this work, so it's all good if I rely on you, right? 'Cause we both know we've got keep this pretty little mind of yours at work or you'll start thinkin' I'm desperately in love with you."

And there he was. The asshole that Penny knew so well. She was caught totally off-guard by his last statement. It's not like she was thinking he's in love with her, she was just wondering why Johnny Lawrence was acting this way towards her.

The bell ended class and saved Penny from anymore embarrassment. She grabbed her stuff and made her way out of the classroom. When she walked out of the classroom, she exhaled the breath she didn't know she was holding in. She couldn't do much other than walk towards her second period class.

She didn't know much in that moment. But she did know one thing.

She was either going to love or hate history class.
