Penny rolled out of bed with a yawn. She was exhausted, but she had a great time with Johnny. She stumbled down the stair and made her way towards the kitchen.
"Good morning mom." she yawned and walked over to the fridge.
"Good morning sweets." her mom smiled at her. They two two were basically identical, other than the fact that Penny's mother had brown eyes instead of blue. "How was your little hangout?" she said wiggling her eyebrows.
"Oh god. Ali told you about that?" Penny groaned.
"How else would I have known?" her mother joked.
"Did she tell you who I was with?"
"I was just about to ask how Johnny was."
"Shhhhh. Bobby'll hear. He doesn't know at all." the girl whispered.
"Bobby isn't here. He stayed the night at Tommy's."
"So your telling me that I rushed to get home so he didn't catch me Johnny for no reason?"
"Yes."
Penny groaned and rolled her eyes. She was so scared that Bobby would catch the two of them. But Penny and Johnny had talked for an hour or two after they both got home. Penny was just happy that Johnny had finally made a move on her.
"Ok. If I tell you this do you promise to not tell Bobby?"
"Yes. I promise."
"Johnny asked me to be his girlfriend last night."
Her mom screamed and jumped up and down in excitement. "This is amazing! Does Ali know? How did he ask you? Did he kiss you goodnight?"
"Alright mom. One question at a time please. First, Ali doesn't know yet, but I'm sure she'll be more than happy to have him off her back. He asked me in a very casual way. Nothing too fancy. And yes. He did kiss me goodnight."
"Oh my god! I'm so happy for you!" she walked over to her daughter and wrapped her in a hug.
"Thank you momma."
"We have to invite him over for family dinner sometime."
"Mom. You want me to invite him to family dinner when Bobby still thinks I hate him? I don't think that's the best idea."
"Alright. But you can't keep this from Bobby forever. He's still your brother and he deserves to know."
"I know. It's just scary."
"Trust me, I understand. Your brother is so damn protective. He frustrates me sometimes."
The front door opened and an exhausted Bobby walked through. He walked into the kitchen and rummaged through the fridge.
"Good morning to you too Bobby." Penny joked.
"How was your night?" their mother asked.
"It was ok. We had this hangout planned for days and Johnny cancelled on us Friday night. He never bails on us. It's so bizarre. He's acting so strange."
Penny and her mother looked at each other and then back at Bobby.
"That's odd." Penny said.
"Yeah. I mean I haven't seen him like this since he started dating Ali. But even then it wasn't like this."
"Maybe it's a girl." their mother stated.
Penny glared at her mother. Did she hint at it to mess with her?
