"Any way you want it. That's the way you need it. Any way you want it"
Penny was shitting bricks. She was about to go on a date with her brothers best friend.
She had invited Ali to sleepover the night before to help ease her nerves. Her best friend was ecstatic to find out that Penny was going on a date. They had spent a very long time contemplating different outfit choices. It didn't help at all that Johnny hadn't shared where he was taking her. So the both girls thought it would be the safest choice to go with a pair of jeans paired with a simple sweater and her white sneakers.
Ali had helped her do her makeup and hair to perfection. Her hair was in a ponytail and she had light makeup on. But she felt beautiful either way.
Penny looked at the clock and saw that the time read 6:47 P.M. It was almost time for her date.
"What if I don't go?" Penny asked her friend nervously looking through her mirror.
"Then you'd be standing him up and I'm telling you right now that he wouldn't like that." Ali said flipping through a magazine not paying attention.
"Is it normal to be this nervous?" she turned around.
"Yes. Do you remember when I was freaking out before me and Johnny's first date? You'll be fine."
"Your right." Penny dropped her shoulders. "Ok so Bobby's hanging out with Tommy til like 11-ish, so I should be fine."
"Sounds great. Well, I'm gonna get going so it won't be awkward if he sees me. Have fun, don't worry too much, and make sure your lips are nice and moisturized." Ali said the last line with her lips puckered and brought Penny in for a hug.
"Whatever." Penny rolled her eyes and hugged her best friend back.
"Speaking of the devil." Ali said sarcastically. Penny whipped her head towards her window and saw the red car in her drive way. She looked at her alarm clock and read the time.
6:51 P.M.
He was early.
"Should I go out?" Penny furrowed her eyebrows.
"Yes. Just go. I'll stay behind and gossip with your mom for a bit."
"Ok fine. I'll see you later." she walked out of her room and ran down the stairs. She yelled down the hall towards the living room. "Bye mom!"
"Bye sweets. Have fun!" her mom yelled back.
The brunette opened her front door and saw Johnny getting out of the driver seat of his car and lean on the hood. She saw a smirk form on his lips when he saw her. He was wearing a pair of black sneakers, blue jeans, a white shirt, and his signature red leather jacket. She quickly walked down her driveway with a smile plastered on her face.
"Hey there short stuff." Johnny said looking her up and down showing no mercy.
"Good evening Lawrence." Penny walked up to the blonde boy.
"You ready?" he walked around the front of his car and opened the passenger door.
"I was born ready." she joked and got into the car.
Johnny ran over to the drivers side and hopped in. He started the car and smiled at Penny.
"What?" Penny furrowed her eyebrows.
"Nothing. You just look beautiful." Johnny started driving and whispered softly.
"Thank you." the girl could feel her cheeks warming. "I didn't really know what to wear. Just cause you didn't tell me and plus I walked away before you could. And I hope this ok because I really don't wanna go back and get changed-"
