"Just like the white winged dove. Sings a song and sounds like she's singing."
Penny and Ali were getting lunch in the cafeteria, when they noticed Daniel by the front of the line.
"You don't think anyone else would mind we cut the line to talk to him, right?"
"Ali, I'm sure they won't. No one looks like their in a rush to eat this dog shit that the school calls food."
"Alright cmon"
The two walked across the lunch line and stood in the open spot next to the boy.
"Hi" Ali said with a smile.
"Hey! Ali with an 'I' and Penny with a 'Y'. How're you guys doing?"
"Good" The two of them answered in unison.
"Not too hungry today." Daniel noticed the lack of food on both of their lunch trays.
"Nope." Penny said shaking her hair
"Not really" Ali said. Penny noticed how much she was smiling just having a conversation with this kid. She noticed a change in her best friend, and it was for the good.
"Here have some pie, made it myself." Daniel grabbed two plates of pie and placed them on the two girls' lunch trays.
Ali started laughing while Penny just chuckled. She knew her best friend had a crush on this kid.
"So how're liking the valley so far?" Ali asked in curiosity.
"Well uh, hasn't been dull." Daniel answered.
"Was Newark dull?" Ali questioned again.
"How'd you know I was from Newark?" Daniel looked at Ali in disbelief.
"She's asked around." Penny said raising her eyebrows. In response to that Ali hit her arm lightly.
"Oh really?" Daniel looked at both of the girls. "You guys sitting with anybody?"
"Well you if it's ok." Ali smiled at him.
"Sounds great to me. You guys want some milk?" He held up milk cartons and put them on the trays as well when they said yes.
"Listen um. I'm sorry about the soccer tryouts."
"Oh it was fine. Don't worry."
"Yeah well, remember the guy who sweeped your leg?" Penny asked.
"Yeah"
"That's my brother." Penny rolled her eyes.
"And remember that guy you had trouble with on the beach?" Ali asked.
"Oh yeah. 'King Karate" Daniel said sarcastically.
"Yeah. That's my ex boyfriend."
"Oh that's good to know. What? Oh yeah, your right. I know." Daniel said looking forward.
Both girl's were very confused by this. "What are you doing?" Penny asked concerned.
