Luke grabs my hand as we board the plane that leaves for Sydney in 20 minutes. Oh, and did I mention it’s a private jet?
He’s acting like such a little kid because he’s so thrilled to be going home again, and he’s even happier to be taking me with him. I’m just happy to be getting a break from it all. My PTSD is getting worse so I’m hoping that being in a new place and seeing his family again will help me. But even though it’s getting worse I haven’t told Luke. I don’t want him to worry. Besides, I’m confident it will go away on its own. I mean, nightmares can’t go on forever, right?
I’m dragged out of my thoughts when I see the cabin of the plane. It’s gorgeous! Luke pulls me towards the couch, turns it into a bed, and says, “I hope this will be alright. It’s the smallest private jet I’ve been in because it’s what we get to travel when we’re not on tour.”
I leap onto the bed and say, “Are you kidding me? This is the best I’ve ever flown! You must be freaking spoiled when you’re on tour!”
He laughs and lies down beside me. The stewardess brings us a blanket and throws it over us. Luke wraps his arm around me and kisses my forehead. I settle my head into the crook of his arm and fall into a restless sleep with nightmares haunting my sleeping state.
---17 Hours Later---
“Babe, time to wake up. We’ve just landed.”
Wow. I never knew I could sleep for 17 hours straight. Okay, I did wake up at least once because of the nightmares but I fell back asleep pretty much right away.
I then stretch and sit up. Luke helps me off of the couch and grabs our back packs. He hands me mine, grabs my hand, and then we exit the plane. We get our suitcases and then go to where his family is waiting. When I see Liz I run up to her. She smiles and embraces me in a tight hug. Liz became like a second mom to me in grade 5 and I missed her so much. After we finally pull apart I also give Andrew, Ben, and Jack a hug. God I missed them all so much.
