As Luke and I drive to counselling I can't help but smile. It's my last day of treatment and after today I can proudly say that I'm PTSD free. I'm so proud of myself but I really do owe it all to Luke. If he hadn't caught me that dark day I wouldn't have had the chance to start over like I did.
It's been a long year of treatment, counselling, and exercise but thanks to Luke I've been able to do it. When he drops me off he says, "I'll leave the car here for you. I have some stuff to take care of so I won't be able to pick you up. Sorry baby."
"It's alright. See you later."
I walk in and what feels like 5 minutes later but is actually 2 hours, I walk out. I go to the car and hop in. Then I notice that there's a note taped to the steering wheel. I pick it up and begin reading. "Congrats on being PTSD free Rae! That's a huge accomplishment! Now, for your congratulatory surprise go to the front doors of the place where it all began. —Skywalker."
I start the car and drive as fast as I can to our old elementary school. When I arrive I run up to the doors. I take the note off of the door which says, "I'm sure you remember how to get to our old classroom!"
I run to it and find a red rose on his old desk and a picture of us at Grade 5 grad on mine. I flip it over and it reads, "Next go to where you gave me the lightsabers."
I take the picture and rose and go to the bridge of the larger playground structure. A lightsaber with a note attached is laying there. I pick up the note which says, "Final note! This leads you right to your surprise! Ready? Go to where we would listen to our song."
I take the lightsaber and rush to the huge tree at the edge of the playground. He's standing under it while 'Hey There Delilah' plays off of his little stereo and iPod, just like old times.
I set the stuff down and throw myself into his arms. He embraces me tightly and we lay down on the blanket he's set out.
