The night was calm but soon a storm came in. Rain poured and lightning struck. Yugi yelps and grips the branch like his life depended on it.
Yami woke up to the sound of Yugi's yelps and bolts from his burrow.
Yugi was shaking from the cold and trembling in fear. Suddenly the branch snapped, falling to the ground. Yami leapt in the air and caught Yugi by the scruff of his neck just as the branch crashed to the ground
Yugi whimpers and sobs softly hating storms. Yami carried Yugi to a nearby cave that was close to his family's cave it was much wider however and not as cramped.
Yugi was shivering from the rain and tried to dry himself quickly as he hated his fur wet.
Yami shook off at the entrance making sure to not get too close to Yugi's and wet him further. Yami then rolled his eyes and walks over his tongue brushing against Yugi's fur as it quickly removed the water. “You're really something you know.” He muttered between licks.
Yugi’s eyes widen and he tries not to purr. “So I’ve been told. Thank you for getting me out of the rain.” Yugi said as he relaxed. Yami pulls back as he looks at the rain. “Um... you’re welcome….” He muttered as he went to one side of the cave and laid down.
Yugi smiles and gets up. “Looks like we’re going to be here for a little bit.”
Yami grunts in response as he continues to watch the heavy rainfall. “Usually means it's going to be a very cold winter… food will be scarce.”
Yugi frowns and lays in front of the opening as his tail flickers back and forth. A bolt of lightning flashed across the sky as it seemed to shake the cave.
Yugi shivers as he watches the rain wanting his mother’s warmth. Yami watched for a moment then slowly got up and picked Yugi up be the scruff of his neck and went back to his spot laying Yugi against he before closed eyes and fell asleep.
Yugi looks at the wolf before snuggling into Yami’s fur. Yami's deep soft breathing was soothing as Yami's tail wrapped around the two of them. The rain continues to pour but neither noticed as they slept soundly
Once the rain lifted Kathleen, Ryan, and the rest of their pack minus Seto who was off sulking somewhere searched for Yugi. It was Mana and Lily who found the pair cuddling.
Lily giggles with a *I ship it* look in her eyes. Mana smirks and gets down before pouncing on Yugi making the cat squeal in fright.
Loud snarls were heard as Yami was to his feet as the hair on the back of his neck stood up straight as he looked at the intruders only to see it was to female wolves. Yami then sat watching the three of them.
Yugi pouts as Mana pins him. “Get off Mana. I’m sweepy.” Yugi yawned. Lily pounced on her brother giggling. “Oh really? You and Yami looked like you were doing more than sleeping. Did you guys become mates?” Lily asked as she smiled at Yami who’s expression was blank.
Yugi tilts his head in confusion before shifting and in a few moments he has both wolves pinned. Lily squeals happily as Bark tottles over and goes right to Yami falling over his paws. Yami smiles a bit and gently touches noses with the pup who yelps happily and runs back to Kathleen who was relieved to see them safe.
Yugi smiles before poking Lily and Mana’s heads. “Off you two go. Brother has training.” Yugi said as he got off them. Ryan smiles as the girls whine loudly but get up and goes to their mothers.
Yugi walks over to his father and stretches. “I’m ready father.” Ryan smiles and nods as he walks out of the den. As Yugi passed his mother she spoke up. “I'm happy you had Yami with you last night. The storm was pretty bad. Did you hold out all right?”
Yugi licks his mother’s cheek. “I did mother. Thank you.” Yugi said before following his father. Seto was already training by himself. He was using a poor rabbit for his training. The poor thing was shaking badly.
Yugi frowns and moves quickly and jumps in front of the rabbit then hisses at Seto. The little rabbit squeaks in fright and faints. Seto growls at Yugi annoyed. “What did you do that for?!?”
Yugi hisses at Seto before picking up the rabbit with his teeth. “You do not bully young and innocent creatures Seto.” Yugi said before walking away with the rabbit in his mouth.
Yami walks out of his den and the little rabbit squeaks happily as he sees Yami. Yami smiles and walks over. “Mokie it's good to see you.”
Yugi places the rabbit down and shakes his mouth. “No offense but you taste disgusting.” Yugi said. Mokie looks embarrassed. “That's cause I may have peed myself a little…. That mean wolf was chasing me. Yami it's good to see you. So you finally have a pack huh?”
Yugi smiles and shakes his head at the rabbit. “No little one Yami is just visiting.” Yugi heard his father calling him and ran to the sound with a quick goodbye.
Mokie smirks as he watches as Yami's gaze never leaves Neko. “Oh you have it bad. Why not just mate with him?”
Yami sighed and looked pointedly at the little rabbit who held his little paws out. “I'm just saying you have a thing for him….” “Even if I do why would he want a pack member who was from a family of cannibals? There's a reason I don't eat meat anymore. Also how's Kara?”
“She's good she just had two new cubs. She asked me to tell you hello if I saw you. So what do you plan to do from here? Stay with them?” Yami looks at the sky. “It's going to be a very hard winter. I suppose I could at least help them survive.” ‘Besides Yugi needs to find a mate soon so maybe he will need some advice and guidance.’
He thought as he bid goodbye to his rabbit friend and went to watch Yugi and his father train.
