(For everyone who have already read the first 10 chapters if you wish to skip the the next chapter feel free to.)Yami who was only a few feet away heard Yugi desperate cries for help. He dashed over and jumped in swimming right to the drowning Neko. He grabbed him by the scruff of the neck as he dragged him out.
Yugi whimpers and shivers harshly from the cold water. Yami was panting as he carried Yugi to a cave. Inside it was dry and oddly warm. Yami carries Yugi over and Mokie squeaks as he and his family sit around the small fire they made. “Yami! Yugi!”
“I-it w-w-was Seto…” Yugi shivers. Yami heard Yugi and growls in his throat as he set Yugi closer to the fire to warm him. Yami lays down and gently licks Yugi's fur.
Yugi snuggles closer to Yami and Yami could feel him shivering. The rabbit family looked worried as the mother rabbit sent the kids to grab some leaf blankets. Mokie and his siblings willingly brought them over and covered Yugi with them.
Yugi closes his eyes as he snuggles closer to Yami. Yami sighed as he licked Yugi's fur. “Just like when you younger can't stay out of trouble. It's okay though I don't mind having to save your tail. I'm just glad I didn't get scratched this time.”
Yugi blushes and looks up at Yami. “It was you….” Yugi whispers. Yami nods as he licks Yugi's fur dry as the fire and Yami's body heat warms him. “Like I said no self-respecting creature would ever leave helpless to fend for itself.”
Yugi smiles. “Thank you Yami.” He whispers. Yami grunts and was about to lay his head down to stare at the fire when Yugi caught him off guard.
Yugi licks Yami’s nose before laying down. Yami blinks then sighed as he gently rests his chin on Yugi's back as his tail curls around him. ‘It’s only because I don't want him to get sick, it's not because I'm falling for him or anything…’ He thought savagely.
Yugi smiles before falling asleep. Soon the night turns to day. Yugi wakes up to find Yami's not beside him. Mokie scampers over and drops a large piece of fish in front of Yugi.
Yugi looks down at the fish before looking at Mokie. “Yam caught it just this morning. He's catching more right now for your family until you guys can have meat again.”
Yugi smiles and eats the fish slowly. Mokie sits beside Yugi. “Yami is a great fish catcher. He's a good hunter though he doesn't really eat meat…”
Yugi nods his head slowly. “I wish I could help but cats like me just hate water.” Yugi then blinks at the last thing Mokie said. “Wait he doesn't eat meat?” Mokie nods as he looks out the cave to see Yami fishing.
“Yami's not like other wolves. When he was younger he ate meat then something happened. After that he stopped eating fresh meat and recited to eating fish, bugs, and anything else he could find.”
Yugi looks at Yami and lays his head down. “What happened?” Yugi asks. Mokie shrugs. “It's not my place to tell. Just know though Yami has a soft spot in his heart for those who are weaker or who need help. He’s got a big heart even though he acts like he's a tough guy. That's kind of the reason why he doesn't have a mate cuz he's afraid to get close to anyone.”
Yugi smiles at Yami. “Well at least he has friends.” Yugi said. “And you’re right. He is different.”
Mokie smiles as he rests a paw on Yugi's foreleg. “Also anyone that's a friend of Yami's is a friend of our families. If you ever need anything for you or your family we are here for you.”
Yugi smiles softly before frowning. “I just wish I knew why my family gave me up.” Mokie looks at Yugi. “You mean your birth family right? Not your wolf family?” Mokie asked.
Yugi shakes his head. “No I'm not. They adopted me.” Mokie frowns as he looks down. “Trust me you're very well known in the forest you're the only wild neko. Most folks just don't talk about it though. About what happened…”
