Yugi blinks and looks at Mokie, surprised. “I’m the last of my kind here?” Mokie looks up. “Well most nekos are pets. It's quite rare to find one in the wild. And you're the only wild one, not necessarily the last one. If you want answers though maybe you should ask your parents.”
Yugi looks down. “So that’s why Seto tried to get that hunter to take me….”
Mokie gently nuzzles Yugi though he's so short that he doesn't even reach Yugi's shoulder.
Yugi smiles and nuzzles Mokie’s nose. Suddenly a huge pile of fresh fish falls into the cave entrance and Yami shakes off outside before coming in. “I sent your parents a message through howling. I told them we'd be heading back soon.”
Yugi nods his head and smiles. “Thank you.” Yami just grunts and picks up the bundle again as he exits the cave and waits for Yugi.
Mokie pouts and gives Yugi a quick hug. “Promise you'll come back and visit sometime?” He asked as he gave Yugi the most adorable bunny eyes ever
Yugi smiles and playfully swats Mokie’s nose. “Of course. I always visit family.” Yugi said before walking to Yami.
Mokie and his family waved goodbye as Yami headed for the log. “Hop on my back. It's easier than swimming.”
Yugi nods his head and jumps onto Yami’s back. They crossed easily and were back to the cave in moments.
Lily and Bark dashed out as they yipped. They were very happy to see their older brother safe. Kathleen watched from the cave and even Ryan was there he looked much better than before but still weak.
Yugi smiles at his family and looks at his parents. “Yami found us fish.” Yugi said as he walked up to them.
Seto made a grossed out face as Yami set the fish on to the ground. There was plenty for all of them.Yami made sure to leave a few leftovers for any other hungry traveling creature.
Yugi pushes some of the fish pile to the other wolves in the pack to make sure they didn’t starve. Everyone in the pack happily ate the fish though Seto looked like he wanted to complain. He refrained though as his mother was giving him a firm glance.
Yami took a piece of fish and went to sit closer to one of the trees further away from the den to eat. Yugi sits and watches his pack eat before looking at Yami. “Yami, please eat with everyone. It’s better to be around friends and family than being alone.” Yugi said.
Yami paused in mid step and sighed as he reluctantly walked over and settled by Yugi as he ate without a word. Soon their bellies were full and all of them were content. Ryan was looking much better now that he had eaten and smiled at Yami.
“Thank you Yami. We appreciate what you did for our pack. You know we could use another good Alpha around….” Yami's voice cuts him off. “With all due respect Sir I prefer to be alone. It's safer that way you aren't at risk of losing the ones you love. I think I'm going to turn in now, goodnight.”
He buried his food remains and silently went into the small cave he found.
Yugi sighs before looking at his father. “Father. I know who to mate to.” Yugi said softly. Ryan and Kathleen blink and stare at their son. “Really?” They say as one.
Yugi looks down. “Duke. Duke Devlin. The leader of our neighbor pack.” Yugi said softly
Yami froze midstep as Ryan and Kathleen stare at their son in shock. “Duke.... But Yugi…”
Yugi sighs and looks at Seto before his parents and stands up straight. “Duke has shown interest in me for a while now and it’s best for the pack. Duke has amazing hunters and a beautiful territory.” Yugi said.
Lily ran up to him. “But we aren't allowed on their territory anytime we want. We will never see you again if you leave.” She wailed.
Yugi shakes his head. “I will compromise with Duke. I will head to his territory and tell him everything and hope he accepts.” Yami speaks up.
“So you’re giving up? You'd rather be away from your family?” He asked as his eyes narrowed.
Yugi looks at Yami shocked. “That is not the plan. I wish to join our packs. Like peace.” Yami snorted and rolled his eyes. “Oh sure, peace. You know this Duke is not as noble as you think. But mate who you want. It's not my place to say.” He then turned to Ryan. “I have some friends that can give you more food throughout the winter. I think I've stayed here long enough. I'm leaving tonight.”
Everyone in the pack except Seto who's smirking, looks shocked as Yami walks away.
Yugi looks down as his ears flatten. “I’m sorry Yami but what do you expect me to do? Who else would want a pet as their mate?” Yugi asks.
Kathleen and Ryan look over at Yugi, shocked. “Who told you you were a pet? Yugi you are our son…”
“I’m a Neko mother. We are pets.” Yugi said before leaving for the den.
