Ripping of this shadow's mask, an incubus emerges. This shadow is so surprised by the sudden ambush that it stumbles back and falls onto the ground in a daze. I don't hesitate to pull out my duel blades and begin to slash at the incubus. Sure, this is a pretty underhanded move to immediately attack out of nowhere, but I need to survive no matter what. Not only that, but frig this guy. All these puzzles and time-consuming dodging around the other soldiers, then he just had to get in the middle of me and the treasure behind him. Just looking at this shadow, makes my blood boil. Somehow, I can feel the shadow is on its last legs and before I take the final strike, The shadow begins to plea. "Wait! Wait! Please spare me! I give up! I'll give you anything if you just stop!" The incubus yells out. I freeze in my tracks. I look down at the shadow, it trembling and shaking with its arms covering its face, eyes shut. Slowly- it realizes I've stopped attacking- opening its eyes. "Please I don't wanna die! I'll do anything, just spare me!" It bows down, forehead touching the ground. It's shaking so bad that I think it's vibrating the room. What am I doing? Letting out my anger on some random shadow, beating on it without giving it a chance to even react. I lower my blades and crouch down in front of the shadow. The shadow jumps and scurries backward hitting the small table the chest is on. The table wobbles and soon it tilts to the side, the chest now falling with the table. I quickly jump up and catch the chest, mere moments from possibly smashing down on this shadow that is probably one hit away from dissipating. I breathe out a sigh of relief as I put down the chest to the side. Looking back at the shadow, it's only looking at me, hands still slightly up in the air. Dang, what do I say to this shadow, that I've basically traumatized? Hand over your money? Give me an item?? "Just leave me alone. Get out of here, say anything to anyone, I'll come back to finish the job." I grab the chest and leave out the door. Shutting the door, I drop to the ground. God, experiencing someone begs for their life IRL is really eye-opening. In the game, it didn't mean much to me, cause they were just collectibles. Things to talk to, make you stronger, then swap out for something else that's stronger. But, now hearing and seeing them beg is really something else. They are basically the embodiment of human desires. The cry to live of that shadow really got to me. I know I shouldn't really care what these shadows say, cause they all follow Kamoshida, but that shadow really only wanted to live. Maybe that's why it was in that room by itself, to hide away from any intruders. As I sigh, I open the chest, then shove the item into my bag; not even bothering to see if it was worth that fight. I toss the chest off to the side, then begin to go up the staircase ahead. As I'm walking up the stairs, I look down. The chest I threw before was now on a crate.

Reaching the 3rd floor, there is a long hall with green sofas. Looking around, there aren't any shadows-I don't even hear any steps ahead- guess they're on lunch break. Well, at least it's better than being reminded of that incubus. Continuing, I come across another wavy room. Nice! Another safe room! This is a great place to rest and blow off some steam. Heading inside, I rest for a while. Even if these are wooden chairs, it's still relaxing to not be standing. I rest, listening to the whooshing of the door when suddenly I hear the sound of, flapping? It's quick and disappears in a moment. I pay it no mind since I should be safe in this room.

After my rest, I feel so much better. I'm sure I can make it through the end of this palace if I wanted it! However, that's not what I'm here for. Trudging down the hall, there is a large white door with golden accents. Walking through, this room is a dead end. The room is filled with nothing, but books and a couple of potted plants. Finally! I'm at the library. I just need to collect 3 books to be able to solve the puzzle in the library to get to Shiho's secret room. Scanning the bookshelves, there are so many titles! How did Joker figure out one book out of all these books was important to take with him?? As I'm pointing out the book titles, I somehow lose balance while simply standing and leaning onto the bookshelf. God, how bad does my balance have to be to literally start falling while standing??
