Chapter 31

As I catch up to Ryuji, I see him talking with the monster cat. "...To think you guys would come back to the entrance when you barely managed to escape." Morgana exasperates. He catches sight of Akira and me and his eyes brighten. Before he can say anything, "What is this place? is it the school?" Ryuji looks at the castle with wonder. "That's right." Morgana returns his attention to Ryuji. "But it's a castle!" Ryuji interjects.

Gosh, do I really have to be here? Morgana is basically going to be spitting out exposition to the boys, all of which I've already heard far too many times. Maybe I should take an inventory stock for what I have on me right-Suddenly, a blood-curdling scream can be heard from the inside of the castle. Everyone stops in their tracks to look at one another to see if everyone actually heard that. "For real?"

The pained yelling continues for another time.

"Oh shit.....It's for real!" Ryuji begins to freak out.

"We saw other guys held captive here yesterday... I'm pretty sure they're from our school,"

"Most likely on Kamoshida's orders.It's nothing out of the ordinary; it's like that every day here.

What's more, you two escaped yesterday. He must have lost his temper quite a bit.

Additionally, it looks like he's been looking for someone lately..." Morgana sighs.

Gosh, that mophead really holds grudges.

"That son of a bitch...!" Ryuji seeth.

"Ryuji...?"

"...This is bullshit!" Ryuji marches up to the door and begins to kick it. "You hear me, Kamoshida!?"

I rush up to him and yank him off the door and onto the ground. This idiot! That's probably how the shadows were able to figure out we were here in the game before. Akira immediately covers Ryuji, keeping the distance between him and me, protecting Ryuji.

I probably went a bit too far. It is his first 'real-time' in a palace, so I guess he would be a bit reckless. I slide my school bag off of my shoulder and dig into it. Feeling around, I grab a piece of paper and a pen.

'I'm sorry Ryuji. Don't make too much noise, please. Or else all of us will die.' I write and show the boys. A flustered Ryuji simply murmurs a small 'sorry'.

After an awkward silence, Ryuji regains his composure and Morgana continues. "Doing that isn't going to open it, you know...

Still, it seems you have your reasons.

All of you..." As he says that, he glances at me.

"Hey, Monamona!"

"It's Morgana!"

"Do you know where those voices are comin' from...?" Ryuji asks.

"You want me to take you to them?

...Well, I guess I could guide you there. But only if both of them come with us." Morgana points to Akira and me. Akira and I look at each other and then back at the monster cat, but Akira looks more displeased about the deal.

"Please! Can both of you come? We've got to figure out whats up with this castle!" Ryuji begs. Akira looks at him and reluctantly gives the go-ahead. I just plainly give a thumbs up. I'm only going to be behind them either way. My only purpose here is to make sure Akira doesn't die so he can finish this story!

"It's settled then!" Mona jumps with excitement. "For real! Thanks....the both of you." Ryuji shyly murmurs. I give another thumbs up.

He leads us to the ventilation shaft from before.
