I smiled as I wandered down the stairwell heading down to the main castle hall and the moment I got down there Thomas saw me, he smiled a little gravely but rushed over picking me up by my waist spinning me down the last few steps and nuzzling his forehead on my own

"Hello princess, are you feeling better?" he asks

"My ankle does feel much better now"

"That's good. I was worried about you" he says "At least its not broken or anything to serious" 

"What's going on down here?" I asked seeing how on edge all the men where

"Uhh... come on princess. I uhh I need to tell you something" He says tugging my hand I followed him and we went to the library where a little fire was glowing. we sat on the sofa he seemed nervous and with slight fear. "Y/n. My sweet beautiful princess, I hoped I wouldn't have to do this... so soon. I promised you when I first brought you here that I would make you my queen, I couldn't bear to watch that slug of a man treat you the way he did, this has been looming for a while now and we have been making preparations while you where resting these last few days and... it breaks my heart to tell you that by aroura's light we go to war" 

"war?"

"I will not have you treated that way, I will go to war for you a thousand times princess, he disrespected us and spoke down to us like we were his whores children. it was always my plan to remove him from the throne once his war was over. and it seems that time has come."

"Will you go?"

"I will. My men are not like Arthur's,  they will not match off to war blindly on my orders, they fight with me, by my side or they do not fight," he explained "How do you feel about it?"

"I understand. Thomas, I'm happy with you here as your lady I don't need to be queen"

"it's not just about the throne princess, it's about our freedom, our rights, he shouldn't be able to match in here and take you away, to rip peoples from their homes because he decided someone else should have it" He explained 

"Thomas. I have sat through a war before and ended it a widow, a prisoner, I don't want war to make me a widow again"

"I know. I promise you. if something happens to me you'll be taken care off"

"Arthur said that too"

"Y/n, while I'm gone I have arranged that you shall rule in my stead"

"what?"

"While I am at war, you shall rule this place as lady of widow's peak. the men who stay will be at your command, the women will look to you for guidance, you will rule this place as I did with much more grace and humility I imagine. I trust you to do this. and if something happens to me the men will protect you and you will continue as lady of widow's peak" he explained

"I can't rule. I'm a woman"

"you are the smartest, most beautiful woman in the world, and no one know's widow's peak like you do. I leave you in charge because I know your best for it, I trust you more than anyone princess. they will follow your command as they would follow mine" he explained "And I promise I'll write to you while I'm gone, and when war is over I shall come home to my beautiful princess with a tiara for her pretty head" he smiles kissing my head "will you do as I ask?"

"I will"

"Thank you y/n" He smiles hugging me close

"I love you Thomas"
"I love you too."

"Promise me you'll come home"

"I promise" 

I giggled a little

"what's so funny?"

"yet another husband of mine, matching off to ar without..."

"Ohh. well... how about" He began "we save that for when I get home, so I have my little virgin princess waiting for me to get home, my little spoils of war" He smirked 

"Okay" I giggled
