"Kat, they okay?" Clint asked
"It will take a while... just give them time" Kat shrugged
"What happened?" Laura asked
"I can tell you a little later. Right now I think I need a change of clothes more than anything" Kat said as she walked off and caught up with Steve
"I know it sucks but you gotta ignore it" Kat told him as they walked to the jet
"What do you see when she does it?" Steve asked her
"My life... the worst parts of it anyway so mostly childhood. Being raised in a place like I did is the nightmare of most females. No free choice, no expressive emotions, no heart... just a cold blooded killer" Kat answered
"What about you?"
"I saw someone special... the dream I wanted then it just vanished" He said
"You're scared of being alone because you feel alone. I mean I get it you are here but a part of you will always be there" Kat nodded slowly as they got in the jet and Kat pulled down her bag of clothes
"You knew how to bring us out pretty fast" Steve pointed out
"When I was killing for money... beforehand, I was meeting up with a girl who was trying to get out of Hydra. She was terrified and forced into it because of her bloodline being prominent memebers. I was helping her get out but Strucker sent Wanda to explore her powers, when they heard of the girls plan... they used her as an experimental tool for Wanda. I luckily managed to break her out, told her she was safe and I did keep her safe for 2 days. As soon as she stepped outside... a hit man shot her through the head so I killed him" Kat explained
"That's dark" Steve said
"The only thing I know" Kat said as she pulled out a jumper and jeans, taking her suit off to leave her in a halterneck tight top and sports shorts so she could easily get changed quickly before she walked back upto the house. She ruffled up her black and red hair as she walked back inside
"Nice to see you back again" Laura said as she came downstairs.
"Thanks. I really missed you" Kat said as she walked with Laura to the kitchen
"You seem oddly okay"
"Everyone keeps saying that. It's as if they forget I don't really show my emotions except for revenge or happiness" Kat rolled her eyes a little
"Find anything cool while you were gone?"
"A few people... really nice food, typical tourist stuff"
"Sounds fun" Laura smiled before she got a text coming through her phone
"Give me a moment" She said as she walked out just as Clint was coming back in with Lila and Cooper
"Auntie Katty, can you do my hair please" Lila asked
"Sure, grab a brush and ties" Kat smiled as she ran off upstairs
A few hours later
"Ultron took you folks out of play to buy himself time. My contacts all say he's building something, the amount of vibranium he made off with... I don't think it's just the one thing" Fury told them as Lila came in with pictures for Kat and Nat before running off to bed
"What about Ultron himself?" Steve asked
"Oh he's easy to track. He's everywhere. The guys multiplying faster than a Catholic rabbit. Still doesn't help us get an anglen on any of his plans, though" Fury answered
"Is he still going after launch codes?" Tony asked
"Yes, he is, but he's not making any headway"
"I cracked the Pentagon's firewall in highschool on a dare" Tony stated
"Well, I contacted our friends at the Nexus about that"
"Nexus?" Steve asked
"It's the world interner hub in Oslo. Every byte of data flows through there. Fastest access on earth" Bruce explained
"So what did they say?" Clint asked
"He's fixated on the missiles but the codes are constsntly being changed" Fury answered
"By whom?" Tony asked as Clint shot at the dart board, hitting the centre
"Parties unknown" Fury said
"Do we have an ally?" Nat asked
"Ultron's got an enemy. That's not the same thing. Still, I'd play folding money to know who it is" Fury said
"I might need to visit Oslo, find our unknown" Tony said
"Well, this is good times boss, but I was kind of hoping when we saw you, you'd have more than that" Nat said
"Yeah... wasn't worth too much of a trip... could have posted that entire speach in a letter or an email... if emails still work" Kat added
"I do, I have you. Back in the day, I had eyes everywhere and ears everywhere else. You kids had all the tech you could dream up... here we all are, back on Earth, with nothing but our wit and our will to save the world" Fury said as he walked in the centre of the room
"Ultron says the Avengers are the only thing between him and his mission and whether or not he admits it, his mission is global destruction. All this, laid in a grave. So stand, outwit the platinum bastard" Fury said
"Steve doesn't like that kind of talk" Nat smirked
"You know what Romanoff" Steve started, only making her smirk even more
"So, what does he want?" Fury asked, refocusing them
"To become better, better than us. He keeps building bodies" Steve said
"Person bodies. The human form is inefficient, biologically speaking we are outmoded, but he keeps coming back to it" Tony answered
"When you two programmed him to protect the human race, you amazingly failed" Nat said and Kat nodded
"It feels like a school where Fury is the teacher. Steve being golden goodie teacher pet. Stark and Bruce being smartass brothers. Nat and me just not caring and Clint being the one who makes weapons out of pens" Kat randomly said
"That was one time I did that on that mission" Clint grumbled
"Yeah and I will never let it go down how badly it failed" Kat laughed
"They don't need to be protected. They need to evolve. Ultron's going to evolve" Bruce said
"How?" Fury asked
"Has anyone been in contact with Helen Cho?" Bruce asked as the team all looked around at eachother before going to suit up
"I'll take Natasha and Clint" Steve said
"Kat, wanna come to Oslo?" Tony offered
"I'm banned from like 75 percent of Norway so probably not" Kat answered
"How?" Tony asked
"I did a lot in my teens and twenties and that" Kat shrugged
"I will bail you out of jail if it comes to it. We can head to compound to grab a spare jet and some stuff" Tony said and Kat nodded slowly
"Welp, assuming bail is an option" Kat grumbled a little
"Do I dare ask what you did?" Tony asked
"Not really, although I am sure you could google it" Kat answered
