25) He Still Doesn't Know

"What do you mean Madelyn," she asks me looking confused.

"Something has happened Autumn," I tell her with tears filling my eyes.

"Oh god," I say wiping my eyes.

"What happened Maddie," she asks, holding me in her arms.

"Not here Red not now," I tried to tell her.

"Okay, okay don't cry it's okay, here I will walk you to class, just please promise me you will tell me everything after school," she whispers to me still holding me and walking me towards my class.

"Yes, Autumn I promise," I tell her trying to get myself together.

"Shhh, it's okay,"

"I know,"

We hug before I go into the classroom shaking. I look around to see if Cole's in the room yet. He is. But to the naked eye, no one would even notice because Allison is literally on top of him with her tongue down his throat.

Still shaking I make it to my seat and went digging into my bag for a romance novel. I need a stress reliever right now. I started reading it quickly relaxing.

"Lyn,"

My whole body tenses before I look up at the boy I love.

"Um, Cole,"

"Am I interpreting you," he says looking at me.

For a moment I thought I saw a sparkle in his eyes.

I look over at Allison to see her upset before mouthing "end it" to me.

I look down I close my eyes breathing in and out.

"COLE BABY COME HERE," Allison screams across the room pouting her lips.

Cole sighs before looking at me "I will talk to you later Lyn, I'm sorry, enjoy your book," he tells me smiling.

"Oh um yeah," I respond smiling weakly. I watch as he walks away, I can't believe this is my life now. 

I can't talk to him later.

I left school early today. I couldn't face him anymore I told Allison, she can tell him the news. I know it's not right to do it this way but I have to.

"Maddie, are you listening," Autumn asks me waving her hand in my face lightly.

"Yes, I'm sorry, continue please," I say blushing from embarrassment.

"Are you okay, would you like to talk about it now," she asks me looking at me with worry on her face. 

I take a big deep breath in and out before trying to look her in the eyes and when I do I start to sob. They escape my mouth like they have been in there for years. 

"Autumn, when he opened the letter there was this fire in his eyes I've never seen before, he crushed it between his fingers and slammed his locker shut, I don't know what that means but what if he loves me because of letters and I made the biggest mistake of life," I explain to her trying to cover my mouth. I fall into her lap crying a waterfall into it.

"Oh Madelyn, I'm so sorry, but listen to me," she says picking my head up from her lap and putting both of her hands on my cheeks making me look at her in the eyes.

"When are you going to realize you deserve all of the love in the world, if this is going to end between you and Cole make sure it ends with you saying you tried everything in your power to make it work. We have less than a month left of school, and you will never see Allison again. Who cares what she thinks or knows, I've seen it in Cole's eyes the moment you started tutoring him, he has fallen for you. So tell him if it doesn't work out then it's his loss because I am sure as hell know you are the most genuine person I have ever met and any guy would be lucky to be able to call you theirs. Do it for you and not anyone else," she explains to me.
