Chapter 14

"Just put some makeup please," pakiusap ni Hailey sa 'kin. Irita ko namang binaling ang ulo ko sa kanya.

"Ayaw ko nga, 'di ba?"

Nasa condo niya kami ngayon because it's her birthday today. Biglaan nga dahil bigla na lang niya naisip na sa isang club siya mag cecelebrate. At ako, I don't like going to nightclubs so they put a lot of effort into convincing me.

Nang pumayag ako ay tuwang-tuwa ang dalawa at sinamahan pa ako bumili ng damit para sa party mamaya. Kung napapayag nila ako sa pagpunta sa club, hindi nila ako mapapapayag na maglagay ng makeup.

"Ang arte, ha?" si Veronica na bomoboses. She's leaning on Hailey's room's wall while her arms are crossed.

"Baka magkaroon na naman ako ng tigyawat," ani ko.

"I swear, Elysia, there will be no pimples that will pop up on your face," si Hailey. I'm sitting on his vanity chair while she's on my side.

"Maganda 'yung quality ng mga makeup niya, Elysia. Hindi ka magkakaroon ng tigyawat diyan." Veronica started walking near us. Nang makalapit ay pumunta siya sa kabilang side ko kaya naman napapagitnaan na ako ng dalawa.

"It depends. Baka hindi ako hiyang diyan."

"Yaan mo nga siya riyan," suko ni Veronica. Padabog itong lumabas ng kwarto.

Attitude talaga itong babae ito.

I just don't want to take a risk. Isa-isa na nga lang ang tigyawat ko at lumalabas lang 'pag nagkakaroon ako. Baka naman kasi 'pag nag makeup ako ay magkaroon ako ng breakout.

"Ikaw pa galit...." bulong-bulo ko. "Is this your face?!"

"Bala ka riyan!" sigaw niya mula sa sala.

I stood off from sitting and went straight to the body mirror near us. I looked at my reflection in the mirror. I wore a fitted leather halter dress. The dress was short. Isang dangkal ang taas nito sa tuhod ko. For my feet, I wore thigh-high boots. I put some accessories on my outfit so it wouldn't look plain. Nakalugay lang naman ang maikli kong buhok.

When I was already satisfied with looking at myself in the mirror, I grabbed my purse from the table and went where Veronica is. She sneered when I finally reached her.

"It would be nice to put makeup on your face."

"Were you not content with putting makeup on your face? Are you bored kaya gusto mo rin na lagyan 'yung mukha ko?"

"This is your first time going clubbing so tonight you need to look not just pretty, but fabulous!"

Should I get offended by what she said?

"That is not the point of the party. We're going there to celebrate Hailey's birthday."

Mas may pake pa ata ito sa mukha ko kesa sa birthday ni Hailey. Kahit kanina na bumibili kami ng damit. She was picking a dress that I think is an overdress for a guest. Sobrang mas maganda pa iyon sa susuotin ni Hailey, e. I might outshine her if I wear that.

Saka it would be embarrassing wearing that. Birthday ko ba? Bakit mas maporma pa ako sa birthday celebrant?

"Tara na nga. Baka 'yung may birthday pa 'yung malate sa sarili niyang birthday party," anyaya ni Veronica.

Napangisi ako nang lumapit siya kay Hailey at hawakan ang kamay nito. The smirk on my lips faded when she pulled her with force out of the condo without even looking at me.

May balak pa ata ako iwan, ha! All of this because of goddam makeup?! Makeup pa ata ang makakasira ng pagkakaibigan namin.

Unti na lang talaga iisipin ko na Veronica is an heir of a cosmetic company and Hailey's makeups are one of their products. That was why she was acting like that.
