・❥・chapter thirty-six, it girl
ALLEN HALSAINE CLOSED THE DOOR OF HIS OFFICE QUIETLY, he made sure it was locked before he took a deep breath and turned to look at his wife who was sitting down in his chair drinking a glass of wine. "What the hell is your problem?" He yelled at her, she looked unbothered as she licked her lips. "She's our daughter for god sake! You couldn't smile at her just to give her a bit hope that you care."Ilana scoffed and set her glass down , "False hope is more heartbreaking than none. Oh and you're wrong." She raised an eyebrow, he furrowed his eyebrows.
"What? False hope is heartbreaking , what kind of bullshit is that, Ilana. What am I wrong about?" He nodded for her to continue, he crossed his arms waiting for her answer.
"You said our daughter. Please, she's not yours and as far I know she's not mine either. She's a disgrace, a mistake." Her response made him tear a bit, he pressed his lips together and held the bridge of his nose in annoyance.
"She is mine. I raised her. She might not be my blood, but I love her like a daughter. I made mistakes and I regret them, but she's not a disgrace Ilana. She's not a mistake either, she's your daughter, your blood. Why do you hate her so much?" He proclaimed, she rolled her eyes and took a sip of her wine.
"She's a reminder every single day , every second, that she's the reason I had to give up the most important things in life to be here. I hate her. Part of me prayed in that hospital when she got shot, that school shooting that she faced, that she died." Her sinister smile creeped out Allen and he looked at her with disgust.
"The hell is wrong with you. She's our daughter. I loved you Ilana, I care about you even with your wrongdoings towards Eileen. You disgust me right now." He turned his back to her and let tears out. She chuckled as she stood up and walked towards him, grabbing the sides of his face. As they looked at eachother , he felt love while she felt nothing. She leaned into his ear and whispered quietly only for his ears.
"That's the thing, I don't love you." She seethed, he felt his heart break by those words. "Now, we have guests. It's best if we don't keep them waiting." She opened the office door and left to greet them. He stood in the office, sniffing, he brushed off his tears and went to pretend to be okay this one last time.
