Because Christmas Eve dinner consisted of the three of them eating in awkward silence after the sisters opened their gifts from Jin, he decides to heat up the leftovers and try again with Christmas dinner. Though they basically celebrated the holiday a day early so the sisters could use today as a day of relaxation and remembrance of their mother, he still wants their first holiday dinner together to be special.
After making sure he has enough leftovers to make a meal for three people, Jin passes by Lily as she makes her way into the bathroom.
"Thanks to you, I'm almost out of body wash now too, and everywhere is closed today," she quips.
"I don't have any body wash at all, so consider yourself lucky," he says, grinning at her as she laughs.
"Stay away from me then, stink boy," she says, scrunching her nose as she shuts the door in his face. He can hear her soft laughter from through the closed door, and he lets out a slow breath, his heart skipping a beat with the melodic sound.
His forehead leans forward to press against the door, and he can hear her turn the shower on. He can just picture it: her golden skin and hair dripping with water as steam billows around her, the smell of her body wash engulfing her as her fingertips knead her slippery skin...
Jin pulls away from the door, shaking his head to clear his thoughts as he makes his way to June's room. He figures the two can cuddle in bed as they watch the snow and play Christmas movies on her television as a way to apologize to her for hurting her.
Though his heart, mind and body belong to the girl in the shower, there is still part of him that cares for the girl he chose in the first place.
The girl that, because he chose her first, he will have to stay with for the rest of his life, forever haunted by the honey-kissed girl just out of his reach.
A shiver runs down his spine at the thought of that body pressed against his, and he lets out a huff of annoyance as he tries - and fails - to get Lily out of his mind for even a second.
It's getting impossible to ignore.
As soon as Jin walks into June's bedroom, he can sense something is off. All distracting thoughts are yanked away as he sees June sitting on her bed, the sheet bunched up on the floor and something clenched in her trembling fist.
Oh no.
"June?" he says, his voice quiet.
"Why were these hidden under my mattress?" she asks, her voice so low he can barely hear her.
