"What's got your panties in a bunch?" Lily asks, pointing her spoon in June's direction. "It's Christmas. Aren't you supposed to be bouncing around and squealing or something?"
June gives her sister a half-hearted smile, though it drops when she sees Lily wearing the ring Jin gave her on a chain clasped around her neck. "I'm just tired. I didn't sleep very well."
Lily scrunches her nose. "Too much information."
June sighs. "Can you stop making jokes about my sex life with my boyfriend? It's not okay."
Lily's eyes widen as she holds up her hands in surrender. "Damn, I'm sorry cranky ass."
June groans, leaning her head against the table. Jin reaches out his hand, rubbing her back as he stares at her strawberry blonde hair splayed on the table around her.
"I love you," Jin says, not able to keep his eyes from flitting to Lily, who is staring at her sister with an eyebrow raised.
"I'm sorry," she says, though her voice is muffled. "I'm overreacting, aren't I?"
"No," Jin says, shaking his head even though she can't see it. "I told you I understand and you should never apologize for how you feel. I'm the one who's sorry."
June slowly sits back up, a small smile tugging on the corners of her mouth as she leans over and presses a lingering kiss to Jin's cheek.
"I'm confused," Lily says, bringing the attention to her.
"It's nothing," June says, sighing. "Just a dumb argument."
"About what?" she asks, and June's cheeks heat up in a fiery red.
"She was upset about what I said about the Christmas tree yesterday," Jin speaks up and June lets out a sigh of relief. "She didn't like that I made the comment that I did yesterday and how it was implied that it was her fault that we didn't get the ornaments I wanted."
"Geez, June," Lily says, rolling her eyes.
"Shut up," June says as she grabs Jin's hand and gives it a gentle squeeze as a silent thank you. "But I'm sorry for snapping at you earlier, too, Lily."
"Snapping at everyone, apparently," Lily says, laughing. "Don't worry about it."
"I'll do the laundry today as an apology," June says, and before Lily can interject, June continues. "And I'll do it correctly. I promise."
"So many people are promising me all these huge things," Lily says, straightening her posture and flipping her golden hair over her shoulder. "If you two wanted to crown me as Queen of this household, you can just say so."
Jin tries to hide his smile as June groans in annoyance.
As though she can read her sister's mind, Lily speaks up again.
"You're still doing the laundry," she says. "You can't back out."
"Whatever," she says, standing up and trudging toward her bedroom to strip her sheets from her bed.
"Is everything okay with you two?" Lily asks Jin as soon as June is out of earshot.
Jin nods, a smile crossing his face as his eyes glide over her exposed skin. "Perfect."
