Chapter 9

*Beep Beep Beep*

The alarm went off at exactly 6:45am in the Chan Household.

Kang Wen groaned as she slowly opened her eyes and sat up in her bed, tired.

"Dear, you awake?" Her dad, Mr Chan, popped into her room to find her staring at him.

"Yes, dad."

"I have something to tell you." Mr Chan said, pushing further into her room.

"What is it, dad?" Kang Wen asked.

"You know about that..."

'Oh. That.' Kang Wen thought as she nodded.

"Well...I think you should hurry it up. Make them come back quick. We need them. Because the country is falling apart."

"Roger that, sir!"

"Are you sure this is the house?" Karry grumbled, staring at the big house in front of him.

It was luxurious, and everything about it screamed 'rich!'

"Yes! It is the house, I swear!" Roy insisted, holding the piece of paper in his hand tightly.

Jackson took in the view in awe as he unconsciously walked up the path and to the door, and rang the doorbell.

"Jackson! What are you doing??" Karry hissed. He rushed up to the younger boy's side but just before he could pull Jackson away, the door opened.

It opened to reveal a young man in his mid-20s, with a serious face looking down at them.

"Good afternoon. What may I help you with?" The man whose face looked perfectly flawless, asked. His face broke into a welcoming grin.

"I-uh..we are here to see Kang Wen." Karry replied, feeling a little flustered.

"Oh. Come in." The man grinned, pulling the door open wider.

The three boys entered, standing in the middle of the hallway, staring at the walls in awe.

The walls were covered in paintings ranging from- um- no idea. They were no expert in art and so they have no idea what is shown on the wall.

"Follow me. Please." The man said.

As they walked, Roy struck up a conversation with the older man.

"So... What is your name?" Roy asked, scratching his neck awkwardly.

"I am called The Great King Alexander." The man said in a monotone.

"Really!?" Roy cried in awe.

"So you're a king?" Jackson asked bluntly, raising an eyebrow in question.

The man started laughing as he managed to choke out, "N-no! I was just joking! My name's Alex. Nice to meet you again, Master Karry, Master Roy and Master Jackson."

Karry and Roy started laughing along with Alex but then something dawned on them.

Jackson crossed his arms over his chest as he asked, "Excuse me, um..Alex. How do you know our name? And why are you calling us masters? And why did you say nice to meet you 'again'?"

Alex suddenly looked all flustered as he muttered something about himself being stupid.

"Ah. No.. No I mean-"

"Alex."

They looked to the source of noise to see Kang Wen and a man in his mid-40s (probably Kang Wen's dad), coming down the staircase.

Their dad's eyes opened wide as he suddenly bent on his knees and said, "Hello. Master Karry, Roy and... Prince Jackson."
