Max wakes up at 9:30 the next morning.

"El, you look tired. Did I keep you up?" Max asks.

"I'm fine." I say. "We should get up."

We both get up and head into the kitchen.

Jasper looks at me with worry. Then I remember, I was worried all night and Jasper could tell. I look away from him.

"We have to go. Our mother is probably wondering where we are." I say. Max and I both leave. I go home and I sleep.

I wake up at 3:30pm to the sound of my phone ringing. I look at it and it is Jasper. I hesitate but then I answer it.

"Hello." I say.

"Come over here at 8. Alone. We need to talk." Jasper says. he hangs up. I sigh and go downstairs.

"Hey El, I got a text from Mom." Max says.

"What did she say?" I ask.

"She said that she is still paying for the house and that she is fine." Max says.

"Oh, that's good. I think." I say. "I have to go somewhere tonight. Are you good with being alone? It'll only be an hour or two."

"Yeah, I'll be fine." Max says.

As I drive up the mountain to the Cullen's, my heart races, I'm nervous. Will they ask about my mother? I get to the driveway and I stop. My heart beats even faster. I'm not very good at telling people about my feelings. But I know I can trust the Cullen's. I get out of the car and I slowly walk to the Cullen's door. I knock. Why am I getting so nervous? Maybe they won't even ask about my mother, or my father. I can hear someone walk to the door. Jasper opens it.

Jasper, "Hey El." He lets me in the house. My anxiety pulses. I suddenly feel a wave of calmness. I look at Jasper. "El, calm down, there is nothing to be nervous about." Jasper says. You nod.

We walk up the stairs and we enter the living room. Everyone is standing in there. I sit on the couch.

"El, why were you so worried last night when your sister woke up from a bad dream?" Jasper asks.

"Well uhh, she's my sister so I was worried for her." I say.

"El, you know you can tell us the whole story, right?" Carlisle says.

"Yeah, I'm just not very good at telling people my feelings." I say.

"What happened the day before you came over last night?" Alice asks.

I tell them about my dad and how my mom left. I am soaked in tears, my head is laying on Emmett's shoulder, I am still crying. I fall asleep.

I wake up the next morning on the guest bed and panic. I left Max all alone for the whole night without telling her. I immediately get my phone and go to text her but there is already a message there, "Hey sis, it's too dark to drive home. I will be back in the morning." I relax. Someone had already texted her.

I get up and walk to the kitchen. Carlisle is in there.

"Good morning El." He says.

"Hey Carlisle. Thanks for letting me stay the night." I say.

"No problem." He says. He smiles at me.

"Carlisle, why didn't you tell me that I'm your mate?" I ask.

"I didn't want you to feel pressured to do anything." He says.

I walk over to him and hug him. "Thank you Carlisle." I say. I can feel Carlisle hug me back. I stand on my tippy toes and kiss him.

"El, what are you doing?" He asks.

"I want to be with you. I've wanted to from the beginning." I say as I smile.

Carlisle smiles and kisses me back. I can feel his soft lips touch mine. I pull away.

"I better go." I say. I smile and I drive back to the house.
