The next day at school, Alice invites me over to play baseball. Of course I said yes. I feel like I can be myself around the Cullens. I would also do anything just to see Carlisles face again. At lunch, Bella starts telling me about how Edward talked to her today. Bella looks over at Edward and blushes.

"You have a crush on him don't you?" I ask.

"Yeah, just a little bit." Bella says.

"Mhm." I say.

                                                                                               ***

After school, I go and find something to wear for dinner. I was never the type of person to dress up for things but I want to look half decent. I throw on some leggings and a blue crop. I know where the Cullens live now so I can drive there myself. On the whole drive there, I think about Carlisle. When I finally get to their house, I knock on the door. Esme answers it.

"Hey El! How have you been?" She says.

"I've been pretty good. How about you?" I ask.

Esme lets me in, "I've been good as well."

I walk upstairs and I see Emmett.

"Hey El!" He says.

Alice walks over to and hugs me. "I'm so glad you came!"

"How are we going to play baseball? Its thundering outside." I ask.

"We kinda need the thunder to play." Carlisle says.

Everyone gets in this huge jeep and we talk on the way there.

"I found my mate today." Edward says.

"Really?! That's amazing!" The vampires all say.

"Wait, what is a mate?" I ask.

"For vampires, once we see our mate, we just feel happy inside and we feel like we need to be with that person forever." Jasper says.

"So, like a soulmate?" I ask.

"Yeah." Emmett says.

We arrive in a big field and we get separated into teams.

"Do you want to actually play El?" Alice asks.

"Umm, sure!" I say.

I run into the outfield with Jasper. I use my powers to make a glove-like protection on my hand.

"What are the rules?" I ask.

"Anything goes." Emmett says, smiling.

Rosalie bats first and when the ball hits the bat, thunder erupts. You try to use your powers to grab it but you have no luck. Jasper runs as fast as a bullet into the woods. A few seconds later, the ball is thrown in from the woods and Esme catches it and hits home plate.

"You're out!" She says.

Next, Emmett is up to bat and it is hit right to me. It hits the ground before me and hits me in the nose. I fall down for a second but I immediately get back up and throw the ball to third. Emmett stays at second. My nose turns red and cracks. Carlisle immediately runs over to me and looks at my nose.

"It's broken. I need to look at it in my office. Keep playing, it might get a little bloody." Carlisle says.

"I'm sorry El!" Emmett yells.

"It's fine Emmett! I'm ok! Good hit!" I say.

Emmett chuckles and the game resumes. Carlisle takes me over to a big rock a few yards away from home plate.

"Can you get on my back? I can run us to the house. It's not that far away." Carlisle says.

"Umm, ok." I say. I get on Carlisle's back and I wrap my arms around his neck. He hold my legs and runs faster than a race car. The wind stings my eyes as I look around. The trees are a blur. I bury my face in the back of his neck.

"El, we're here." He says. I get off of his back and we walk into the house. We walk up stairs into his office and I sit down. "This might hurt a bit." Carlisle says.

"What are you going to do?" I ask.

"I'm going to snap your nose back in place." he says. Your heartbeat increases but you try to slow it down because Carlisle can hear it.

"Umm... ok." You say. You close your eyes.

"El, look at me." He says. You open your eyes and look into his. His eyes are showing that he is worried for you. "Everything will be ok." He says. You nod. "I'm going to count to three." He puts his hands on your nose. You wince in pain. Your heartbeat is raising by the second. "One, two," He cracks your nose.

A tear drops down your eye from the pain. Carlisle puts a white sticker thing on your nose and tells you to put ice on it.

"Does it still hurt?" Carlisle asks.

"Yeah, it hurts a lot." You say.

"You should probably get home." Carlisle says.

"Yeah." You say. You go outside and get in your car. You drive to your house and when you get there. You sleep.
