The Gift (Chapter 23)

I am sitting on the couch reading a magazine with Victoria when I think, "I haven't gotten a gift yet."

"Hey Vick. I haven't gotten a gift with being a vampire yet." I say.

"Really? We should try to figure it out." Victoria says.

"How?" I ask.

"Well, I happen to be an expert in this type of thing." She says. "I know a bunch of different ways to figure out a gift."

"Well, let's do this. What do we do first?" I ask.

Victoria takes me to La Push and takes me to the top of a cliff.

"Wait, you want me to jump?" I ask.

"Yep." Victoria says.

My heartbeat starts beating faster than it ever did before.

"But, there are sharks in the water." I say.

"Yeah." Victoria says. "Just jump."

"Do you think I'm stupid?! You just became friends with me so you could kill me!" I yell.

Victoria walks closer to me. I am standing at the edge of the cliff.

"Jump. Or I will push you." Victoria says.

I look down at the water. I start becoming visible and invisible.

"Wait! My gift!! It's invisibility!!!" I yell.

Victoria smiles and giggles.

"Vick!! You scared me!!" I say.

Victoria laughs. "I got you good there."

I smile. "My gift is invisibility!!" I say.

I turn invisible for a few seconds. "This is so cool!!"

At my house, we laugh all night and go hunting.

The next morning, Victoria is going on a little vacation to California.

"I'm going to meet some celebrities!!" Victoria says. A week ago, Victoria entered a contest for a week long backstage pass to some movies and shows being produced.

"Have fun! I'll see you next week!" I watch Vick get in an Uber and drive away.

A few hours later, I turn invisible and run to the Cullens house. I sneak in and stand in the living room. Nobody notices me. Bella is laying on the couch, her belly got big.

"Ahhh!!" Bella yells. "I think it's coming!!"

Carlisle immediately picks her up and carried her to his office. I follow them and Bella starts screaming. I sit against the wall and cover my ears. Her screams remind me of the newborns scream when I killed them. I start going visible and invisible but nobody notices me.

I start breathing harder. Is Bella going to live? She's a vampire, she has to.

The screaming stops a few minutes later. I look up. I am invisible again. I walk over to the baby and she is beautiful. I smile. Bella is ok.

I go sit on the couch and watch Bella smile with the baby. She names it Renesmee. After Esme and Renee. Edward looks really happy and my phone rings. It is on silent so nobody hears it. I walk out of the house and answer it. It is Carlisle.

"Hello?" I ask.

"Hey El, listen, I'm really sorry. I was really stressed and I didn't want to loose Edward because of Bella. I wasn't thinking about loosing you too. I understand the Victoria thing and I want you, just you to come over and meet Bella's baby." Carlisle says.

"I accept your apology and I understand." I say. "I'll be right over." I hang up and wait a few minutes to go inside. I go visible again and I walk into the living room.

Bella looks at me and hands me Renesmee.

"Her name is Renesmee." Bella says. I smile at Renesmee and give her back to Bella.

I go hug Carlisle. "I love you." I say.

Carlisle smiles. "I love you too."
