Chapter 15: Omen

It was actually quite a bit chilly today, as it had been nearly a moon, and the leaf fall was starting to come upon the lake. Soon it would be the cold times, and I was scared for that to come back, as I still remember the last time that the leaf bare had hit the clans. We had lost YoungTail, and it still hurt me to this day, as I still felt like I needed his help, and I needed his guidance right up to this point.
There was a lot of things, and a lot of mistakes that I felt like I had made already. There were some things that I felt like I should not have done, and yes, whilst I knew that at some point I had to learn, it did not mean that it still was not going to hurt me. I felt like I had made some poor decisions so far, and out of all of the leaders that there were, I felt like I was the worst one.
Sure, I was the founder of the new era of the clans, but did that really mean all that much? It felt like the other leaders did not respect me like I felt like they should. It was the reason why at the last gathering, I had not decided to step up and say any thing, and I had simply just told the other clans as to just what it was that had really happened in Windclan over the last moon.
It really was not all too much if I was not going to lie to my self either. As it kind of felt like for once, there had in fact been a peaceful gathering. Perhaps that was due to the fact that DustEyes was not there, as it kind of felt like that cat only brought chaos along with him, never the less. I wanted to say some thing to NettleStar, but perhaps it was not really my place to do as such a thing like that.
Perhaps I should only be worried about my own clan, and not be worried about all of the other clans. That would probably be a good place to start off at, I kind of felt like. I still felt like I could not help but to be worried about the other clans, as I felt like they all were my clan.
I felt like a little bit of an idiot now that I came to think of it, for even thinking that kind of way. I knew that my focus needed to mainly be on Windclan, as that was my clan that I had to lead. The foundation of the clans was now over, and I was not really deemed the leader of all of the other clans, all at the exact same time as well.
I kind of just shook my head a little bit to my self, all at once, as I did my best to try to get my mind, and to try to get my focus off of all of the rest of that all of the sudden, all at once. I then instead got my mind on the fact that I needed to catch some prey to take back to the clan, all at the exact same time too. We were not really struggling with prey right now, but I knew that the time was soon to come, and I needed to be prepared for it.
I had caught a mouse as it was so far, but sadly, I had been so lost in my head after that point, that I really had not done any thing else since then, all at the exact same time too. I knew that I needed to get some thing else for the clan, all at the exact same time as well, never the less. I then all of the sudden nodded to my self all at once, as I got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of the rest of those other thoughts that I had in fact been thinking on long before now, none the less.
As I stood there, and I stared for just a little bit longer, I then all of the sudden began to start to lift my nose up all of the sudden, as I began to start to sniff the air, all at the exact same time as well, to see if I could in fact scent some prey near by. As soon as it was that I had done as such a thing like that, I was in fact quite a bit relieved to see that the lands were still full of prey, all at the exact same time too.
I caught the whiff of a near by rabbit, as well as a near by vole, all at the exact same time too. I then all of the sudden began to start to nod quite a bit to my self once again, as I thought about getting a big rabbit for a few seconds, but I quickly changed my mind. I was getting tired of rabbits, and though I was not the one that was likely going to eat this prey, I felt like I should at the very least, go and get some thing else, all at the exact same time too.
The rabbit was in the opposite direction of where the vole was, so I could not really choose the both of them, as it was going to be hard enough as it was to bring a mouse and a vole back with me, as much as it was if I was going to bring a rabbit with me, all at the exact same time as well. I quickly just kind of nodded a bit to my self once again, and I then all of the sudden began to start to speak to my self, all at the exact same time too.
"Just get the vole MoonStar... The clan is going to be fine..." I said to my self, all at once, as I knew that it was. Even if it was that not only was I at the camp right now, but neither was OwlThroat, as I knew that the clan was going to be okay, as I felt safe enough to allow as such a thing like that right now, all at the exact same time too. As I stood there, and I stared for just a little bit longer, I then all of the sudden began to start to dig up a hole to hide the mouse, all at once.
I wanted to make sure that no other critter was going to steal it from me whilst I went out to go and chase for the vole, all at the exact same time as well, never the less. I then began to start to dig in to the ground a fair bit, until I could put a spot to hide the mouse at, all at the exact same time too. Once it was that it was big enough to fit it in to, all at once, that was when I then all of the sudden began to start to go right on ahead and put the dirt over it, all at once, once again.
As soon as it was that I had done as such a thing like that, all at the exact same time too, that was when I then all of the sudden began to start to head off and over in the direction that it was that I had in fact smelt the vole at not all too much longer before now, all at the exact same time as well, once again. I kind of let out a little bit of a soft sigh to my self, all at once, as soon as it was that I had in fact begin to start to do as such a thing like that, all at the exact same time too.
As I then began to start to head off in that direction, it did not take me all that much long of some time to be able to see the vole from not all too much further away, once again. As I stared at it for just a little bit longer, I then began to start to dip my head a little bit low to the ground all of the sudden, as I got ready to chase after it, all at the exact same time as well, once again. I stood there for a bit more time, as I made sure that it did not suspect me coming after it.
Once it was that I felt like I was in fact safe to go on ahead and chase after it, that was when I drew just a little bit closer, all at the exact same time too, none the less. As soon as it was that I was close enough to feel safe that I was in fact going to catch it, that was when I then all of the sudden began to start to sprint over towards the vole, all at the exact same time too.
As soon as it was that I had in fact caught the vole, all at the exact same time too, I then jumped on top of it, before it was that it had even noticed me coming after it, all at the exact same time as well, none the less. Once it was that I had in fact done as such a thing like that, all at the exact same time too, that was when I then all of the sudden finished off the kill.
I was about to put the vole in my mouth, all at the exact same time as well, none the less, to get ready to take it back to just where it was that the mouse was even waiting for me at, all at the exact same time as well. That was when I then all of the sudden began to start to notice that some thing just so happened to be wrong with the vole, all at the exact same time too.
I blinked my eyes a few times, as I then all of the sudden began to start to jump back from the vole, all at the exact same time as well. As soon as it was that I had done as such a thing like that, all at the exact same time too, I then all of the sudden began to start to curse a bit to my self, all at the exact same time as well. I was not all too sure as to just what it was that was going on right now, all at the exact same time as well, none the less.
"Ew! Maggots! What the!" I yelled to my self all of the sudden, as I could see the rotten white creatures on the now dead corpse of the vole, all at the exact same time too. I was a bit surprised by it if I was not going to lie to my self either. I felt like it took at least a little bit of some time for prey to decay to the point where it was that there would in fact be maggots on it, all at the exact same time as well, never the less.
I kind of just did my best to try to keep my self as calm as I felt like I possibly could, all at the exact same time too, as I blinked my eyes a few times. I knew that I had just killed the vole a few moments ago, so that did not make any such sort of sense to me what so ever, none the less. Perhaps I might have killed a vole right beside an already dead cold, as that kind of felt like it could be the only answer that made any sort of sense to me, all at the exact same time as well, never the less.
I kind of just stood there, and I stared for a little bit longer, as I then looked back over at the vole that I had in fact just jumped back from. I squinted my eyes at it, as I no longer saw the maggots on the corpse of the vole, all at the exact same time too. Surely I could not have just imagined the fact that I had seen maggots on it right?
It did not make any sort of sense to me what so ever, if I was not going to lie to my self either, as I kind of vomited at the fact that I was going to bring that vole back to the camp, all at the exact same time too. Even if it was that I had not really seen as to just what it was that I felt like I had thought that I had seen, all at the exact same time too, I still felt like I did not want to risk it, and bring it back to the camp, all at the exact same time as well.
I just stood there for a little bit longer, and I then all of the sudden just began to start to turn my head away from the vole, all at the exact same time as well, as I then began to start to turn my head back over in the direction that it was that I had in fact just killed the mouse at not all too much longer ago, once again, and that I had dug a hole up for it's body, all at the exact same time as well, never the less.
I knew that I needed to hurry up and get it, all at the exact same time as well, before it was that the mouse did in fact start to have some maggots infest the body of the mouse, all at the exact same time too, never the less. I did my best to try to keep my self as calm as I felt like I possibly could, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden began to start to nod to my self, all at the exact same time as well. I did my best to try to stay as calm as I felt like I possibly could, all at once, as I then got my mind, and I then got my focus off of all of those other thoughts that I had in fact been thinking on long before now, once again.
I began to start to jog over in that direction that the mouse was at, all at the exact same time as well, as I knew that there was still a rabbit near by that I could perhaps catch before it went some where else. I knew that it had not been all that much long of some time since it was that I had killed the vole, so I felt like I might have some time to go and catch that rabbit that I had been thinking about. It kind of hurt me to think on the fact that I was in fact just going to leave some prey out there for some other animal to eat it, all at the exact same time too.
I did my best to try to keep my self as calm as I felt like I possibly could in the mean time, and I began to start to stop my self, as soon as it was that I had got up to the mouse all of the sudden, once again. I then began to start to dig up the dirt that I had put the mouse under, all at the exact same time too. As soon as it was that I had in fact pulled the mouse out, that was when I then began to start to hear a voice of a near by cat, that began to start to yell to me.
I was a little bit lost, as I felt like they were mad that I had stolen my prey, all at the exact same time too. For one thing, this was Windclan land, and even if it was one of my clan mates, I knew for a fact that I had been the one that had caught this rabbit, never the less. Though, I had been so lost in today so far, I felt like I might have just some how gone to another dirt spot that some how some one had put their own mouse in that, all at the exact same time as well.
I then all of the sudden began to start to turn my head over to the cat that was in fact speaking to me right at this very moment in time as well. I luckily noticed that it did in fact just so happen to be one of my clan mates, all at the exact same time too. I also noticed that it did not look like the she cat was at all upset at me right now, all at the exact same time too, as it seemed like it was talking to me about some thing else other than the prey that I had just caught a few moments before now, all at the exact same time too, never the less, at that.
I began to start to breath in quite a bit heavily to my self, all at the exact same time too, as I did my best to try to keep my self as calm as I felt like I possibly could, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden did in fact nod to the she cat, all at the exact same time as well. I made sure to let the she cat know for a fact that I was in fact paying attention to her right now, all at the exact same time too.
The she cat just so happened to be AngelRing, as she was with DuckPad, and DuckPad's apprentice, FlipPaw, all at the exact same time as well. It was clear that they were coming back from a hunting patrol, all at the exact same time as well, just based off of the fact that they were all carrying quite a bit of some prey on all of them, all at the exact same time too. I let out a bit of a soft sigh to my self, all at the exact same time too. I then did in fact begin to start to listen as to just what it was that AngelRing even had to say to me, all at the exact same time as well, never the less.
"Hey MoonStar! Nice to see you out side hunting too! We just finished a hunting run, you want to come back in to the camp with us?" She asked me, as it was clear that she was in fact excited to see my face, all at the exact same time too. I knew that AngelRing always wanted to get closer to me, as she was in fact the mate of SilentEars, all at the exact same time as well. She knew as to just how close of a bond that me and her mate did in fact share, all at the exact same time as well, none the less.
I kind of just felt like I wanted to say yes, just based off of how happy it was that she did in fact look, all at the exact same time too. How ever, I felt like I needed to bring back a little bit more than just a mouse, all at the exact same time as well. I remembered that there was in fact a rabbit that had in fact been in the direction that it was clear that they had in fact just come from, all at the exact same time as well.
I opened my mouth, as if I was about to speak, and say that I still needed to catch some more prey, until I noticed the big juicy rabbit that was in the mouth of FlipPaw right now, all at the exact same time too. I blinked my eyes a few times, all at the exact same time as well, as I was in fact quite a bit surprised as to just what it was that I was even looking at right now, all at the exact same time too.
It was clear, as I began to start to sniff the air, all at the exact same time as well, that FlipPaw had in fact caught the rabbit that I was in fact about to go on ahead and hunt, all at the exact same time too. I was going to be a little bit disappointed at first, all at the exact same time as well. That was of course until I then began to start to notice the big smile that was on the face of FlipPaw, as it was clear to me that he was proud of the fact that he had in fact caught such a big rabbit.
I blinked my eyes a few times, all at the exact same time too. I was in quite a bit of some shock for quite a bit of some time, all at the exact same time as well, that I was not all too sure as to just what it was that I should even say back to AngelRing, all at the exact same time as well, never the less.
I kind of just stayed there, and I stared at her for quite a bit of some time, until in the end, I did in fact begin to start to nod back over to her, all at the exact same time too. It was clear to the both of us that I was in fact going to go on ahead and start to speak to her. I felt like, based off of the fact that I knew the clan was going to be fine, that the simple mouse would in fact be fine to take back over to the camp, all at the exact same time too.
AngelRing continued to hold the same smile that she had on her face long before now, all at the exact same time too, as in the end, she did in fact go right on ahead, and she did in fact nod right back over to me. It did in fact make me feel quite a bit better at the very least, all at the exact same time too. I did in fact now realize that she was in fact paying attention to me, and to just what it was that I was even about to go on ahead and say back to her, once again.
As I did in fact stare at her for a little bit longer, I then all of the sudden let out quite a bit of a heavy sigh to my self all of the sudden. Luckily the other cats were too far away to notice me do as such a thing, never the less. I just kept on continuing to go on ahead and speak to AngelRing either way, all at the exact same time too. I knew that she was in fact beginning to start to listen as to just what it was that I even had to say to her in the very first place any ways, once again.
"Well I suppose I probably should... Don't want to leave the clan alone for too long..." I said back to her, all at the exact same time as well. I had a bit of a fair point on just what it was that I had in fact just said. I had not really thought all too deep in to it too much, until I had actually said it. I did in fact feel a lot more safe how ever, now that it was that I did in fact realize that I was in fact about to go on ahead, and I was about to head back over to the camp, all at the exact same time as well. I breathed in a bit of a soft sigh of some relief to my self all of the sudden this time, all at once. I then all of the sudden was in fact about to go on ahead and start to take the lead back over to the camp, all at the exact same time too, that was of course, until I then all of the sudden began to start to notice the look on the face of FlipPaw. It was clear that he was hoping that I was going to saw some thing about the big rabbit that he had caught, and I kind of felt a little bit bad that I hadn't even thought about it until just now. I then all of the sudden did in fact begin to start to continue to speak to all of the cats, as soon as it was that I had noticed as to that fact, never the less. "Good catch FlipPaw... There is going to be some happy cats back at camp when they see that..."
I looked at the young tom cat, all at the exact same time as well, as soon as it was that I had in fact just said that to him, all at the exact same time too. It was clear that it had in fact made him quite a bit happy, all at the exact same time as well, that I, the leader of Windclan, had in fact noticed as to the fact that such a young cat like him had in fact caught such a big piece of prey, all at the exact same time too.
I kind of just began to start to breath in quite a bit heavily to my self, once that was all over with, as I saw that he now all of the sudden began to start to hold quite a bit of a big smile on his face all of the sudden, after just what it was that I had even just said to him, all at the exact same time too. It was clear that it had in fact made the both of us feel quite a bit better, never the less, at that.
I breathed in quite a bit heavily to my self, all at once, as I got my focus on to just what it was that was in fact more important right now. That was of course the fact that I knew that I needed to get back to the camp. It was good to go out side and think for my self, but I felt a bit stressed out, and a bit anxious leaving the camp for such a long time.
I just did my best to try to keep my self calm, as I heard the quiet paw steps of the cats that were right behind me, following me of course. It felt like it was a normal day, and I did not feel any thing at all that was strange in the air right now, if I was not going to lie to my self either. I felt like every thing was in fact going to be fine, so I really did just need to calm my self down.
Though, I could not help but to be worried about just what it was that I had seen that was up with that vole not all too much longer before now, all at the exact same time too. I felt like it might very well have some thing to do with the fact that it meant some thing bad was coming soon. Though I just did my best to try to keep my self as calm as I felt like I possibly could in the mean time, all at once, as I got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of those other thoughts once again.
I just stared down in to the small pit that was in fact the Windclan camp, as I had not realized as to just how close it was that we had in fact even been to the camp, all at the exact same time too, as it did in fact make me feel quite a bit better, none the less, to know that we were back at camp. I felt like I should talk to OwlThroat about what it was that he might think about the vole that I had seen. Even if he had not seen it him self, I knew that he was in fact going to take it seriously, none the less.
As I got right up in to the front entrance of the camp, all at the exact same time too, I then began to start to head straight over to the prey pile, all at the exact same time too. I did my best to try to keep my self as calm as I felt like I possibly could, once again. I saw that my deputy, OwlThroat was already there, almost as if he was waiting for me, even though I knew that he was not, as I saw that he was simply just eating some prey right now.
I began to start to head right over to him, as I dropped off my prey with the rest of the cats that had in fact been with me, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden began to start to head right over to just where it was that OwlThroat was even at, all at the exact same time too. As I stood there for just a little while longer, I then all of the sudden began to start to notice that OwlThroat had nodded right over to me, as he had noticed clearly that I had been looking at him.
I let out a bit of a soft sigh of some relief to my self, as I was in fact glad that he was there with me right now, all at the exact same time too. I blinked my eyes a few times, all at once, before it was that I did in fact go right on ahead, and I did in fact nod right back over to him all of the sudden. It was clear that he was going to speak to me first, so I felt like I should in fact let him know that I was in fact paying attention to him, none the less.
Once it was that he had seen me do as such a thing like that, he then all of the sudden finished off his prey, all at the exact same time too. He then began to move out of the clearing, and he dug up a spot to put the prey in to, all at the exact same time too. I saw him lift his head up, and say some thing quietly, as it was clear to me that he was in fact thanking Starclan for the prey that he had just ate.
That did in fact make me feel a little bit better at the very least, once again. I was glad to see him believe and have faith in Starclan, as I knew for a fact that they were real. I was worried that a lot of cats did not believe in any of that, but it was clear that it was a lot less than I had thought. I had began to notice that, as I had in fact began to start to pay more attention to the cats in the camp, like a good leader should do, never the less.
I kind of just did my best to try to keep my self as calm as I felt like I possibly could in the mean time, once again. I got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of those thoughts all of the sudden, once again, as I then all of the sudden began to start to hear OwlThroat begin to start to speak to me all of the sudden. I did in fact begin to start to listen as to just what it was that he even had to say to me in the very first place any ways, as well.
"You alright MoonStar? You don't seem okay..." He said to me, as it was clear to me that he was a good deputy, and be could tell that some thing was wrong with me, all at the exact same time as well. I was not going to lie to him, and tell him that I was okay either. That was the whole reason that I had come over to him in the very first place any ways, after all.
I shook my head over towards him, all at once, as I then all of the sudden began to start to breath in quite a bit heavily to my self, all at the exact same time too. It was to let him know that I was not alright at all, what so ever right now, and that there was in fact some thing that was up with me. Or at least, there was some thing that I could not get my mind off of right now, as I knew that it was too hard just to throw some thing that could in fact be important as that, all at the exact same time as well, none the less.
I kind of just stared down at the ground for quite a bit of some time. I could see that my deputy did in fact have his head tilted over towards me, as it was clear that he was a little bit lost as to just what it was that was even wrong with me in the very first place any ways, none the less. I just did my best to try to keep my self as calm as I felt like I possibly could in the mean time, as I knew that I should stop thinking about it so much to my self.
I knew that if I told OwlThroat, he might under stand as to just what it was that it would mean, all at the exact same time too. I knew that OwlThroat was a very smart cat, and I was sure that he might get as to just what it was that it would mean. I was just at a bit of a loss for words, and I was not all too sure as to just what it was that I should even be thinking in my head at all right now, to really get as to just what it was that it might mean.
I stood there, and I stared at the ground for just a little bit longer, until in the end, I eventually did in fact begin to start to lift my head up, all of the sudden. I did my best to try to keep my self as cool as I felt like I possibly could, all at once, as I then all of the sudden began to start to stare at my deputy right in to my eyes. I could tell that he was a good friend, and he was a good deputy, and it was right for him to be worried about me right now, all at the exact same time too.
I kind of just did my best to try to calm my self down once again, as I then all of the sudden began to start to nod back to him, all at the exact same time as well. It was to let him know that of course, I was in fact about to go right on ahead and speak back to him. I wanted to explain it to him, so that he might be able to under stand, and he might give me some advice as to just what it was that it might mean, all at the exact same time too.
OwlThroat continued to stare at me with the same worried look that he had in fact had on his face not all too much longer before now. I did my best to just try to keep my self as calm as I felt like I possibly could, all at once, as I then all of the sudden began to start to see him nod back to me. Of course, he was in fact paying attention as to just what it was that I was about to go right on ahead and say to him, all at the exact same time as well.
It made me feel better how ever, just to see him do as such a thing like that, as I kind of just let out quite a bit of a soft sigh of some relief to my self, all at the exact same time as well. I then all of the sudden did in fact begin to start to go right on ahead and continue with just what it was that I had even been doing not all too much longer before now. That was of course going on ahead and beginning to start to speak to OwlThroat, now that it was that I did in fact realize that he was in fact beginning to start to listen as to just what it was that I even had to say to him, all at the exact same time as well, none the less.
"Well... I caught a vole, and it had maggots in it... It was alive and fine when I killed it, I'm not sure what it was, or what it meant..." I said to him, as I looked at him right in to his eyes once again. I did my best to try to keep my self calm, as it was in fact quite a bit nasty to think of, now that I came to think about it. I could see that OwlThroat looked like he wanted to gag at the thought of it, as I noticed that he had just ate a vole him self.
I kind of shivered at the thought of that, all at once, as I made sure that the vole that he had eaten did not have maggots on it. Perhaps the vole might have some thing to do with OwlThroat... I certainly did not hope that was the case, as I loved my deputy, as I did not want any thing bad to happen to him what so ever, all at the exact same time too, never the less.
As OwlThroat then began to start to dig up the hole that he had put the dead vole in to, all at the exact same time too, that was when he then did in fact look back to me all of the sudden. I could tell that he did in fact have quite a bit of a  worried look on his own face right now, as of course, there was good reason for that to be the case, all at the exact same time too, once again. I did my best to try to keep my self as calm as I felt like I possibly could, all at the exact same time too, once again.
I then began to start to see that my deputy was now all of the sudden nodding back to me, as it was clear that he was about to go right on ahead, and he was about to speak back to me, all at the exact same time too. I did my best to try to keep my self as calm as I felt like I possibly could, as I then all of the sudden did in fact nod back to him all of the sudden, once again. I was in fact paying attention as to just what it was that he was about to say back to me, and just what it was that he might think that it could mean, none the less.
I stared at him for just a little bit longer, until in the end, he did in fact begin to start to speak back to me. I tried to keep my self as calm as I felt like I possibly could, all at once. I then did in fact begin to start to listen as to just what it was that he even had to say to me in the very first place any ways, never the less, at that.
"Well... It's clearly an omen..."
