🌸 CHAPTER 40 🌸

I looked around to make sure that coast is clear and took calculated steps down the stairs. My huge nine almost ten months belly preventing me from looking at my steps but I had mastered the stairs so far. The lights were off downstairs and I turned on the low intensity lights of the stairs before continuing my journey to kitchen. I took a stop in front of fridge and opened the door. Summer fruits came into view and I took out the bowl of sliced mangoes.

Retrieving the bowl from the fridge I opened freezer to take out nus ice cream. I scooped it on top of mangoes and then went to take out maple syrup and nutella. My mouth watered looking at the mixture I had just made. I took a large spoon and took the firs bite moaning at the taste. This was like a dish made in heaven and sent directly to me. Okay it is a joke.

A chuckle erupted through the silence of night and I turned abruptly to see who it is. There stood my dear husband, arms crossed in front of his chest and his leg wrapped above other. His bed hair looked hilarious while his blue eyes shone in dim lighting. He stood straight and came to me in two long strides engulfing me in a hug.

"Hungry!?"
He planted a kiss on my temple and then took that bite from my dish on which made a cringe face.

"Yup. She is not yet ready to come out but also she doesn't want to slow down"

"Don't worry she just love to stay in her mother's womb for little longer"

"Mhmm-hmmm"
I took another bite from the ice cream now not turning my attention to Adrian. I was about to hit 40 week tomorrow and this missy is not yet ready. Doctor told us that we would wait for sometime but if she doesn't make a move they would consider inducing labor.

"Now ready to sleep"
I nodded and then put the empty bowl on sink leaving it to be taken care tomorrow. Adrian held my hand and we both went upstairs to our room.

Few weeks ago we had our 3D scan and we first time saw her face somewhat properly. We both shed few happy tears looking at her. During the scan she was sleeping no matter what doctor tried t wake her up.
"Doctor please wake her up"
I whined for nth time and doctor sighed not standing our mother daughter stubbornness.

"Ava she is not happy to wake up"
I sighed and nodded in positive knowing that I had nothing more to do or say. Adrian sat beside me holding my hand gazing at the screen. He was not a little bit interested in our mother doctor fiasco. Or maybe he ignored it intentionally. Soon doctor copied the pictures, gave us our copies and then let us go. You know what happened as soon as we stepped out of hospital. Adora kicked me right in the ribs.

Little sneaky monster.

A worst type of cramps hit me and I woke up groaning. I sat up and saw that Adrian was not beside and sunlight was penetrating through the blinds telling me it was morning already. I tried to see what is happening but my belly won't let me look down. I groaned and pushed my heavy body into sitting position.

"Adrian"
I cried for him not even sure if he is in bathroom or had gone downstairs. A sharp pain shoot through my stomach and then it all went away. No pain no liquid flowing and I concluded it was Braxton Hicks. These had been happening since last two months and today I thought maybe I am finally in labor. But this missy here has no plan of coming out. I threw away the covers to go and take bath. I have nothing to do on this maternity leave and in this time I had arranged and rearranged her things for thousand times.

"Morning Martha"

"Morning darling"
She passed me a small smile and then dished out some pancakes for me. My mouth watered looking at the delicious pancakes which melted as I stuck fork into those. She gave me mug of hot chocolate to accompany with chocolate chip pancakes. I didn't focus on anything other than my delicious breakfast. Once I was satisfied with my full tummy I asked about Adrian.
