Y/N's POV
It was a not so hot sunny day, tia Pepa has been in a good mood lately. Everyone is busy preparing for Dolores and Mariano's wedding that will be held tomorrow. Decorations hanging all over the Casita, making the place even more colorful and festive.
Meanwhile Mirabel and I are just talking about random things in my room. She was busy fixing some of my dresses that I burned out of random anger while I finish painting an image of my room. It was a circular shape, stairs leading up to my bed and a waterfall surrounding the walls to keep it from causing a huge fire to spread to the other rooms.
I let out a loud breath which caught Mirabel's attention. "Y/n, you okay?" she asks, slowly putting the needles on the nightstand.
"Yeah, I guess." I said, resting my chin on my pillow. "I just hate not doing anything as if I'm all useless." I held the painting on my hand while I watch it burn.
"Stop thinking like that. You're not useless, people just don't appreciate the things you do." she puts a hand on my shoulder and quickly pulled it back when fire starts to appear.
"It's easy for you to say, I mean-- You're the next candle holder."
"Hmm, you're not wrong about that but trust me, I've been there. I know how it feels to be left out. You should at least be thankful that you were given a gift and a room. Casita could've just given me a room but uh-- nevermind." she says, letting out a soft chuckle.
"I do have a room and a gift but why do I feel like It's not worth it? that I don't deserve such thing." tears starts to trail down my cheeks.
"Hey, don't cry." she says as she embraces me into a hug. I don't feel hot but rather cold, it's as if all the fire burning inside me had drained out. I didn't hug her back but kept my hands on my face trying to wipe out the tears every now and then.
We heard the door creaked open and there stood the twins with smiles on their faces but it soon fade away when they saw me. "What did you do now Mirabel?" Camilo asks putting both hands on his hips.
"I wasn't doing anything Camilo, we got into a deep talk and she got overwhelmed." Mirabel snaps back before letting go off me and standing up in front of Camilo, her hands now on her hips.
"Oh yeah, well it's still your fault." Camilo answers back. They were both exchanging glares at each other. Carlos rolls his eyes and kneeled down to my level.
"Idiots" he whispered before turning his eyes to me. "Here, food makes you feel better." he handed me an arepa. "I managed to steal some from the kitchen." I happily took it from his hand and shoved it into my mouth.
"Thanks." I said while munching the food on my mouth. He pats my head and then started laughing. The fuck is wrong with this guy? "What's so funny?" I asked.
"That's actually the arepa from last week." he manage to say in between his laugh.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "YOU LITTLE SHIT!" I shouted and then shoved the remaining arepa into his mouth in revenge. He stopped laughing and started choking.
Mirabel and Camilo had stopped arguing when they heard me swearing. "Y/n, what happened?" she asked worriedly.
"That jerk just fed me an arepa from last week!" I exclaimed pointing over Carlos as fire starts to appear above my head. Camilo went to help Carlos who's now coughing uncontrollably.
"Oh, let me help you with that." she grabs a wet towel and started to gently pat my head with it to cool me down. Just then the door burst open and I saw Papa with a worried look on his face.
"Y/n mija! I heard you swearing, is everything alright?" he asks. I only nodded in response.
"Tio Bruno, thank goodness you're here." Camilo says . "Y/n and Carlos got into a small fight. It's fine, we've got everything under control." he smiles.
"FINE?! what's fine with being fed on a food from last week?!" I shouted throwing hands in the air. Mirabel pulled her hands away in fear as the wet towel on my head was slowly burnt to ashes.
"Ai Carlos, when will you stop being so mean to your prima?" Papa says calmly and got another bigger wet towel.
"Uh, when I'm dead...?" he said and got up from the ground. I shot a glare at him.
"Oh you're gonna be."
"Oh really?"
"Really. One day you'll find yourself being burnt to ashes ."
"You're not gonna do that to me, would you?"
"Oh I would."
"Okay, you two stop it." papa interrupts. "Mirabel, Camilo, could you please escort Carlos out of the room? I'll take care of Y/n before a massive wild fire happens."
"Ok, Tio." Mirabel and Camilo said in unison while doing a salute. "Come on Carlos, you don't want mami to come here and get you herself, don't you?" Camilo says as him and Mirabel linked arms with Carlos in between, pulling him out of the room.
Once the door was closed , I turned my eyes to papa who was busy putting away the paints and brushes in my bed. "You know I can handle myself Papa, you don't have to worry about me." I said while I watch him put my things back to my drawer.
"I'm your father, of course I worry about you." he sighs and sat beside me. "Dolores told me she heard you crying earlier while you and Mirabel were talking. Tell me what's bothering you mi vida so I can help." he says, taking my hands to his.
"I don't know if you can help Papa, It's more of a personal problem." I sighed.
"It's alright, you can tell me when you're ready. You know you can talk to me about anything." he says as he pulled me in his arms. I nodded my head and hummed in response.
