Y/N's POV
Yesterday was a bit chaotic, well after the tour and introducing Elisa to the rest of the fam. Then there's Carlos being a bitch again, telling me there seem to be something off about Mateo saying Elisa was just his 'friend' and nothing else.
Of course I didn't believe him, he barely knew the person, and he isn't that type to care about others' feelings. Who knows maybe he's just messing around to ruin my friendship with Mateo.
I kicked the pebble infront of me as I continued walking, not knowing where I was heading to. I soon reached the town square and stumbled upon Mateo holding hands with... Elisa.
My heart ached, I began to walk away but was caught up when I heard my name being called. "Y/n! there you are." they approached me, both with wide smile on their face.
"Oh hey, didn't see you there." I let out a fake chuckle, my eyes eventually averted to their hands that was intertwined. "So... uh, you're.... dating?" my eyes went back and fourth to them both.
"Yes, I was just going to tell you." he looks at her and smiled.
"That's... good to hear." I smiled painfully as I held in tears that was forming from my eyes. "Well, anyway, I think I should go."
"You can join us if you want." Elisa grabs my hand but I politely pulled it back. "It's--It's fine. I still have something else to do. See you around." I wave my hand and began sprinting back home. Bumping into different people on my way but I couldn't care less. I just wanna lock myself up in my room and burn to ashes.
I pushed the front door open before Casita could do it. Mirabel approaches me, "Hey y/n have you seen--" she stumbled upon her words as I ran past her and head up to my room with both hands on my face.
I locked the door and not a few minutes later, I heard a knock. "Y/n? what happened?" I heard Mirabel from the other side of the door. I didn't reply for I was still out of words.
I sat on my bed and hugged my knees, burying my face on them as I began to sob. I shouldn't be feeling like this, we were just friends. It was my fault why I liked him in the first place.
I should've seen it coming.
I should've listened to Carlos.Mirabel's POV
I continued to knock on the door but got no response. I eventually gave up and went downstairs. The front door opened and I saw Tio Bruno, I ran to him in panic.
"Tio Bruno!" I called.
He turns his head to see me. "Mirabel? is there something wrong?"
I nod my head repeatedly. "Y/n, I don't know what happened but when she got home she was crying."
"What??" he asks, his voice slightly raised.
"She's in her room, I tried to talk to her but she won't open up." Tio Bruno looked at me worriedly and we both head upstairs to Y/n's room.
"Y/n, Mija. Open the door, is everything okay?" he called out while twisting the door knob but it won't budge. He sighed and looked down at the tiles. "Casita, can you open this up for me?" he asks. Casita's tiles starts clacking, it seemed to be scared to do so.
We looked at each other, out of clue. "What should we do?"
"Maybe we should ask for Abuela's help, she is her favorite after all." he suggests and I nod my head. We both head to Abuela's room, the glowing door opened.
"Abuela, we need your help." she looked at us with furrowed eyebrows.
"What happened?"
"It's y/n, she came home crying. We don't know the reason, maybe you could to talk to her." Tio Bruno says as Abuela nods her head and lead the way to Y/n's room.
She knocked on the door only to be answered by complete silence. She looked at us confused and we just shrug our shoulders. "Y/n, dear, please open up."
"I'm fine, okay?? I just tripped on a rock." she yelled back.
"Jeez, someone needs to tell her she's really bad at lying." we heard Carlos saying, popping out of nowhere. We gave him a judging look.
"What did you do to her?" I asked, my hands balled into a fist.
"Calm down, prima. I didn't do anything. I was out earlier then I saw her talking to her 'best friend' Mateo with the blonde girl Elisa," he says the girl's name in disgust. "Don't worry, she's just upset about something, I think. She'll come out soon." he tapped my shoulder and walked off.
I groaned and rolled my eyes. Pathetic how I just asked one of the pranksters in the family.
