(A/N: Time skip. This is one week after Dolores and Mariano's wedding.)
Y/N's POV
It's been a hectic week, for me. Everyone's back at their jobs which is helping the whole goddamn town. I don't get why they almost rely everything on my family. Not to be mean but I think everyone should at least get some rest.
"Mi Vida, where are you going?" papa asks in which I quickly halted. I turn around and put both hands behind me. "I promised Mateo we'd hang out today." I gulped the down my own saliva, waiting for his answer.
"Are you sure it's a friends hangout?" he raises an eyebrow.
"Mm-hmm. Yup, nothing else." I laughed awkwardly. He nods his head . "Just take care, alright? I don't want you getting into trouble.' he kisses my forehead and I nodded. "I'll be back at 5pm." I smiled at wave a hand at him.
I walked away from Casita, more like skipping in joy. Mateo had been a really good friend to me, he's funny, sweet , caring and very attractive. I think I might have a crush on him already.
I blushed at my own thoughts and didn't realize that I already reached the river where we usually hangout and just talk about random things. My eyes searched for him here and there but soon failed. I sighed and leaned my back on a tree nearby.
"He must be still on his way." I told myself and take a seat on the neat grass.
"You're one minute late, Y/n." a voice says. I stood up and looked around me to see no one but just the peace and calm scenery of the river and the small grass swaying with the wind. "Up here Bonita." I look up to see Mateo with a wide smile on his face. His chin resting on the palm of his hand, his hair swaying on the wind.
"How long have you been up there?"
"Not too long, I saw you arriving and decided I should stay up here while I watch you wait for me." he chuckles and I shook my head. "Come on up, it's pretty cool up here." he held out a hand.
I began to climb up the tree with his help. He was right, it is pretty cool up here. I can smell the fresh air coming straight through the leaves of the tree. I closed my eyes and let the cool breeze hit my face. This, right here, is what I longed for. Just peace.
I opened my eyes again, only to see Mateo staring at me with the same smile on his face. He quickly looked away and I can see him blushing. "Do you want me to close my eyes again so you can stare at me the way you did just a few seconds ago?" I teased.
"I-It's not what you think." he stuttered.
"I was just kidding, you get so easily flustered." I chuckled. "So, why did you call me here again?" I asked while looking at the view of the mountains and the river.
"Oh, right. I actually wanted to give you this." he grabs something on his pocket. "Here," he grabs my wrist and slid a bracelet with little fire and butterfly pendant. "Take it as a gift from me."
A smile plastered on my face as I look at it, admiring the sparkling jewelry. "Thanks, I like it. It looks so cute." I said and pulled him for a hug. I quickly pulled away after realizing what I just did. "S-sorry, just got carried away." I smiled sheepishly.
"It's fine, I'm glad you liked my gift. "he chuckled and pat my head.
We sat there silent for a moment. The wind whistling through the trees and leaves were heard all over the surroundings. Just him and me feeling the nice cool breeze, sitting right next to each other.
"Hey, uh. Do you have any plans today?" he asks.
I shook my head in response. "None, it's not like I have chores to do like everyone else without messing things up." my smile turned into a sad expression.
I felt his hand caressing my back. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked. Now I feel bad."
"No, it's okay. You don't have to feel bad about me." I smiled reassuringly.
"Do you wanna go somewhere else instead? maybe grab a snack? my treat." my head quickly diverted to him. "You wouldn't mind? I feel like you've always been the one who pays for everything."
"I don't mind at all. You should be treated right like the rest of the Madrigals." he smiled and I swear to god I wanted to hug him again.

We are now sitting on an empty bench eating ice cream, just laughing and talking. The day turned out well, I had a wonderful time with Mateo telling jokes and singing badly out of nowhere.
Yes, he wasn't such a good singer but he did made me laugh. "You know, you should start a band." I said jokingly. "For what? to make babies cry?" he laughed in response.
"Hey, who knows? you might improve just a bit."
"Nah, I'll pass. I think I'd rather be a dancer. "
"You know how to dance? that's new."
"Well, not really. I dance just for fun in my room since I was a child and then it became my dream." I hummed and nodded my head. "What about you? what do you wanna be?"
I put a finger on my chin and thought for a moment. "I don't know... appreciated? I guess?" a heavy sigh escaped my mouth as I looked down at the ground. "I'm still figuring myself out."
He placed his hand on mine as he rubs my palm gently. "Don't worry, there's still time. I know you'll figure it out soon." a sweet smile plastered on his face.
I nudged his shoulder. "Do you wanna make me cry or what?" I chuckled and wiped off my imaginary tears dramatically.
"Or what." he replied sarcastically.
I playfully rolled my eyes and looked up at the sky, admiring the yellow and orange hue. The sun set was beautiful. A smile formed on my lips as I watch the sun slowly setting down as if it was hiding behind the mountains before the moon comes to lighten up the dark night.
"I guess I should head home now, dad must be waiting." I stood up and he did the same.
"Do you want me to take you home? it isn't that far though." he offered.
"I don't know, do you wan to?" I asked back.
"It'll be my pleasure, Señora Madrigal." he bowed down and held out a hand. I giggled and rolled my eyes. "You can stop with the gentleman act now."
"Does it suit me though?" he asks as we started walking.
"Hmm, maybe?"
"Maybe? why maybe?"
"You kinda suck at it." I joked.
He frowned and crossed his arms. "Don't be so mean."
"What can I do? I guess it's in my blood." I chuckled and we proceeded walking towards Casita.
One we've arrived I tried to offer him to join us for dinner but he declined and said he was too shy to meet the others. I didn't argue with that one and just bid my goodbye to him as he walks away.
I smiled and sighed before Casita opens the front door for me. The doors swung open and I was greeted by a teasing look from Mirabel and Camilo.
"Oooh, someone has a crush"
