Chapter 9

"Well... Here goes nothing." Talulah murmurs while pushing the trigger in her hand. Seconds later, multiple explosions happen in the surrounding buildings at the center of Chernobog.

Shouting fills the air after the explosion dies down, while footsteps rapidly converge towards her. Talulah throws the detonator away and hides herself inside of a trash can in a nearby alleyway. She viciously smirks while saying, "Hope you like this gift, dear father of mine." Before closing her eyes.

Talulah opens her eyes and blinks, before looking around her. She burst out of the trash can, startling some Grunts nearby with one of them falling on his butt due to the scare.

"Hehe looks like I was wrong about her~" W carefully comes out from a building that has iron bars in its window, while looking out if anybody was around. Seeing that she was alone, she quickly heads off to a nearby sewers and climbs down.

"Urgh... Burning these clothes later." She wrinkles her nose as the smell hits her, "Now... Which way was it to Rhodes Island?"

"Alright, everything checks out and your body is healthy enough to move. Doctor Kal'tsit wants you to head off to Yan tomorrow evening, so take this chance to explore and select team members for your mission." Ansel hands over a tablet to Ashura, who takes it to see it filled with people's faces and info. He scrolls down, not minding the fact that Ansel was on his way to the door without a goodbye.

"Ansel?" The door opens just as Ansel is about to open it. A female Sarkaz with long white hair wearing a black hood that has two holes for her horns, comes in while carrying a tablet.

"Hibiscus is asking for your assistance over in storage 5."

"Got it. Thank you, Shining." Ansel bows then leaves the room, with Shining about to do the same but stops when she spots Ashura engrossed in the tablet.

"Are you Doctor Ashura?" Shining softly asks while closing the door and moving to him.

"Huh?" Ashura looks up while blinking as he sees a new person standing there. Brown meets cyan and both of them stagger back, though Shining freezes afterwards.

Ashura grunts while muttering a curse as he closes his eyes, with Shining also closing her eyes but she massages her head with one finger. Moments later, they open their eyes to look at each other.

"Doctor Ashura?" She once again asks, though it is noticeably more affectionate.

"Please, just call me Ashura, Miss..."

"Shining, once a roaming medic but has chosen to become an Operator for Rhodes Island." She stops, then continues in a warmer tone with a small smile etched to her face, "Nice to meet you, Ashura."

"Same here, Shining." He smiles back. They continue to smile at each other, until a loud beep coming from Shining interrupts them.

"Ah... Sorry, I um... Forgot that I need to go somewhere else by now... Goodbye, Ashura." Shining's cheeks redden before she hastily bows and opens the door. She stops then glances back while biting her lips, before shaking her head and leaving the room.

The moment Shining left with the door wide open, he sighs before running a hand through his hair, "Should I be happy that I can easily find love or despair at the fact that all of this is fake in the end..." He melancholy mutters.

He sighs then looks down to the tablet while scrolling down on it to hopefully find a few certain operators.

"...Are they asking me to pick any number of operators I want?" Ashura glances over to the door.

"Yes, Ata. It could be seen as a test but what are the chances of that being true? I am an amnestic patient that has no memory nor knowledge other than what my soulmates and you gave me."
