Can't we go to Ashura's room?

'No.'

It's sooooo boring, why not go have fun with him? We deserve a break after all and, besides, we can get him to be in bed wit-

'No. I need to finish this paperwork by midnight and then I need to check up on that girl that Ashura brought back.'

Don't you mean fellow sisters? After all, she is one of us, no?

I deign to ignore her, even as I see her mischievously smile at me from the corner of my eyes. Sighing as I lean back into my seat, my mind involuntarily remembers after leaving his room that night.

That uncomfortable feeling of not being near him, the longing to hear his voice, for Terra's sake just by seeing him made me the happiest I had ever been. Hardly got any sleep that night but luckily managed to sleep for a few hours.

To my dismay, other than a small part of me, the feelings didn't go away after waking up, rather the intensity of those feelings skyrocketed in me... Which made me question if I was still me or someone else.

After... Ashura explained about everything, I resolutely swore to myself to resist the effects no matt-

Ashura is right at the door.

'What?!'

"Hi, hi~, It's your friendly neighborhood Sarkaz here~" Instead of Ashura, an annoying blood sucker comes in, "No need for that sour face, Kal."

"Oh, shut it. I was expecting someone else." I quickly clasps a hand over my mouth, though it's for naught as I see the blood sucker deviously smiling at me.

"Oh~ I wonder who that someone could be~"

"Shut it."

The smile slowly turns into a frown as she waves a file that I could have sworn wasn't there, "Alright, back to business since you're obviously not in the mood; here's the result of our little redhead brain." She quickly comes and hands me the file.

Raising an eyebrow at her while my hands hold the file, I open it up to read the contents, "Brain showing abnormal... Structurally different... Infected... What..." I can feel my face twitch as I continue reading the medical reports before letting it drop on to my desk with a sigh.

"Oh Terra, just what had happened to her..." I glance over to my DataPad to see that the time is nearing 12, "Maybe I should take a break... Hopefully Ashura is awake..." I mutter under my breath, before blinking as I realize I had actually said it out loud.

"Oh~ I wasn't expecting you to go to his room at this time, again~" Her teasing grin slowly melts away, "Or is it because of the other you?"

Totally you, all you.

I sigh as I look at her with tired eyes, "I had been successfully ignoring her, until you mentioned it."

The blood sucker sheepishly rubs her head, "Whoops, sorry." She stops then looks at me with squinted eyebrows, "So?"

I feel my lips dry up while opening it then closing. It takes me a while to answer, "I... I really don't know. I would love to say that it's because of it, but..."

"You don't know how much she actually influences you."

I blink then slowly nod, "Yes... Yes, I... Don't know if that's the case but maybe..."

She shrugs, "Well, I came to an agreement with mine; I'll hang out with Ashura whenever I get free time and it doesn't bother me when I'm working."

"Huh? That works?"

You could have asked!

"Yes, apparently. What the fuck do we know about stuff like this? We're researchers, not soulmate experts or whatever. Might as well ask."

See? Ask me and make a deal with me!

I tap on my desk a few times as I mull over making a deal with this thing, "Maybe you're right. I'll do it later."

"Alright... Anything else we need to discuss?"

I look all over my desk before looking upwards, then back to her, "No, I don't think so."

"Ok, I'll take my leave now. Have a good rest, Kal." She turns around and walks over to the door.

The blood sucker pauses in front of the door then glances back, "Oh yeah, forgot to ask. How is our 'Priestess' doing?"

Blinking at her question, I rack my brain to remember, "The process went well, according to Closure, but it will take some time for her to... Wake up."

"I see... Hey, Kal, did we... Do the right thing?" Hearing the uncharacteristic nervousness in her tone made me frown in return.

"You know as I do what happened on that day. We tried all other options but failed, leaving us with this option."

"I know, I know... Just that..."

"We did all that we could, Warf. You know we wouldn't have went through with this if we had another choice," I cut her off, prompting a glare aimed at me, though I would take a glare over having to relive that day again.

She lets out a deep sigh, "Fine, fine. I'll go now. Night, Kal."

I slightly flinch after the door closes with a bang, "Sorry, Warfarin... Our Queen said that this was the best option in case she's gone..." I sigh, "Maybe... No... Yeah... Too tired to go to Ashura, I need sleep."

His room is closer, no?

"Oh shut up. Mine is closer anyway."
