Inching Towards Drama

Penelope and I stayed good while everything and everyone around us slowly fell apart. Luca and Julianna fought so badly one night that Luca cheated on her with his ex girlfriend. Jeff was Jeff and cheated on Aubrey with five different girls. Sometimes I couldn't understand how a boy scrawnier than ever with red hair could get more girls than Luca and I put together.

"It's his money, I'm telling you" Luca said while throwing the ball and missing the basket.

Luca and I were ready to knock some sense into Jeff but Aubrey wouldn't let us. We talked about punching his face a lot, Penelope said she wanted in on it. Julianna would tell us to stop only because they were best friends with each other. Especially now that her and Luca were done.

It took a total of ten days for Luca to win Julianna back. Penelope told me not to help him because he deserved her to leave him but I couldn't help how much I cared.

"He's never going to change. He will never take a girl serious" She would say.

But I saw more in Luca.

For a day the squad was cooperative and we went out together at a local club. Penelope and I drifted away from everyone and did our own thing. We had enough of the drama; enough of everyone calling us too perfect. We didn't like to be called something perfect because perfect things never last. We made a pact to enjoy tonight without any drugs or drinks, it was going to be a different experience.

She was dancing on me while we both blurted the lyrics in each other's faces. I whispered in her ear to stop blushing but she denied it.

"It's the heat" She would say.

I knew it wasn't.

Later that night we excused ourselves from our group of friends and went to her house. We couldn't blame the alcohol because we didn't have any. It was our energy; we were so attracted to each other.

That night falling asleep next to her, I thought about it all and I knew she was up thinking about it too. I knew Penelope way too well, I knew she was laying there thinking about me even with me beside her. My thought process shut down when she reached over for my hand to hold. We fell asleep.

The next day I felt obligated to take her sisters out alone. I thought a baseball game wouldn't be too bad. Penelope swore up and down I was going to fall for her sister, she was only a year younger than me. Her sister, Jade, she was gorgeous with brown hair and tan skin. Penelope and Jade looked different from one another, it was because they had different fathers. But both the girls had their mother's face. The younger sister resembled both her parents, she was my favourite; although I never stated that out loud. She was different, a bookworm and someone I could talk about books with. She was way younger than me yet she was smarter.

At the game we were seated at a place where we could catch a baseball. Jade had her glove ready and so did I, the younger sister didn't seem interested. Jade asked me about high school, what she needed, what classes to take and when to apply for college. I explained everything to her and then the conversation shifted to, "are ghosts real?" We spent a large amount of time talking about weird things and then we finally left after I bought them ice-cream.

And as much as I tried to escape the drama, it followed and it swallowed all the people I knew...
