MARINA
I open my eyes when I felt something stinging them.
"She's awake," mutters someone near me. I can't see her face, but the tone of her voice is familiar to my ears. "Thank God."
I press my eyes shut again and tried to stand up, pero muli akong napahiga nang makaramdam ako ng biglaan at matinding pagkahilo. "Augh," I groan as I get back to where I am lying right now. I can feel how my world is turning into an upside down as I forced myself to move, so I decided to remain still.
"Don't move too much, baby, okay?" a guy mutters as he fixes the strands of my hair.
"Dad..." I heave a deep breath because I feel like I'm about to choke. "What happened?"
He stares at me. "Take some rest first. We can talk about it later." he gives me a reassuring smile that I don't know what for.
"Kamusta ang pakiramdam mo?" biglang lumapit ang isa pang bulto patungo sa kinahihigaan ko. It's mom's voice that I've been hearing a while ago.
I didn't answer her and just stare at the both of them. "Please explain what's happening. I don't, I don't understand anything."
They glance at each other. Their faces are obviously deciding if they'll tell me the reason why I ended up in a hospital or just zip their mouth.
In the end, I saw my mom sighing out of surrender. "You passed out."
"Where?" I ask expectantly.
"In the university's library," she explains before sitting beside me. "The principal has informed us about what happened in the dean's office, so we hurried to get there, only to find out that you were unconscious and lying on the floor." She holds my hand and I can see her eyes gleaming, she's restraining herself from crying.
"Please don't do that again," maingat na saad ni dad.
"Do what?" I ask and stare at him.
"Making us worry." I saw pain in his eyes, and so in mom's.
I sigh, even if I don't recall anything they just stated. I lower my head in humiliation because I just did something awful, and here I am right now, completely forgetting what really happened. "I'm… I'm sorry."
"It's fine. Just don't... don't do it ever again. Please."
This is the first time that I've heard her say 'please', and also the first time she ever held my hands.
