Life Gambles

Grim sat on the table tapping her finger with her cheek resting on her fist glaring at Nile who was trying to act like her haunting eyes weren't beaming into his soul. "If you want any of your personal effects returned ask for them later." Nile tell the married couple, Erwin turn around from looking out the window, "No. That's fine." He says. Grim glance at him from the corner of her eyes, "Really?" She ask. Erwin nod his head taking a seat beside her, "But if you have a moment I'd like to talk." Erwin say to Nile.

"I'm not really in the mood to reminisce about old times." Nile interjects. "Why so cold Nile?" Grim ask with a glare, Erwin quickly took over. "We were like brothers back in our days as cadets.  Quite soon, this tiny world of ours will be changed." Erwin light the candle on the table, "Will that change bring hope or despair?" He than ask. "Can we trust the crown with the future of humanity?" Erwin stare intently at Nile, "Who has the right? Who will you trust Nile?"

Grim and Nile stare at Erwin, "Erwin. Tell me." Nile pause staring at Grim before bring his attention back to his friend, "What are you planning to do?" He ask. "I'll make a gamble. Same as always." Was Erwin only answer.

Once the MP finally left Grim leaned back staring at her husband that is being unusually quiet. Matter of fact, it seems that's all he been lately is quiet. Grim had her arms cross just studying him while he look outside seemingly in another world. Grim face fell, tears filling her eyes as she continue to study her once happy husband just as silently. Leaning forward, she gently bit her thumb stoping the tears from falling just as Hange come storming threw the door.

"Our situation just got worst!" She hollers with Moblit by her side. Grim and Erwin stare at her with blank faces, "I have two things to report General. Commander." Grim nod allowing her to continue, "First, Eren and Historia have been abducted by the enemy." Erwin blink in surprise, "Three from my squad were killed in the fighting. I'm about to meet up with Captain Levi and follow up on a lead he might have as to their current whereabouts." Hange explains.

She than pull out a map to show the two Scout Leaders, "Understood. What else?" Erwin ask. "Eren remember a conversation he overheard between Ymir and Bertholdt. But if this is actually true than-" Hange went off on a tangent while Erwin took a seat beside Grim once again. "Are you okay?" Moblit ask in concern for his unofficial ward.

Erwin held out some water for Hange to drink. The woman rush over taking gulps like a dying whale. Grim waited patiently with her chin resting on her hand watching the woman, "Unless we recover him quickly. Eren will be devoured." Hange finally finishes.  Grim sigh with tiredness. 

"Well." Grim start making Erwin and Hange stare at her. "Seems it's time for Levi to do his favorite hobby." Erwin nod in agreement. "Have a good time Hange." Hange stare at Grim with stars in her eyes, "Yes Ma'am!" She salute rushing out with Moblit not liking the idea of his Captain going into the fun house of torture.

Later that night Grim and Erwin were discussing their next move when a knock was heard at the door. "Well it's not Hange." Grim mumbles. "Pardon General. Commander. But the Commander of the Garrison would like to speak with you both." A Solider tell them. "Pyxis?" Erwin say in surprise.

Pyxis smile in greeting to the two of them, "Forgive me for dropping in unannounced." He say. "But I just couldn't stand still you see." Pyxis took an offered seat. "I finish reading your letter. And I have a few thoughts on my own." Erwin close the curtains in their room. "But first I have to ask." Pyxis stare at the two of them before quietly continuing, "You are serious right?"

Erwin answer the question, "Yes." Was his simple answer. "I have a plan to retake Wall Maria and to depose the government." Pyxis rub his head, "I knew this would happen someday. The state could only hold people in this cramped world for so long before they began to lash out." Pyxis release his head, "I knew when the time came I would have to point my gun at the King I'm sworn to serve."
