Chapter 5 : Intimidation
Esmeralda sat in her room completing her math assignment when a knock sounded from her door.
“Come in!” She called turning around in her chair when she heard the door open and close. “Oh!” She exclaimed, her mouth opening in shock, as she stared at Logan who stood by her door. Her closed door. He was standing in her room. With her. Alone.
Feeling her panic grow, she watched as he locked her door, and slowly made his way over.
“I thought it would be nice if I came over to see you.” He told her, coming within two feet of her. “Your mother let me in.” He informed her, and she watched as his gaze swept over her form. Suddenly she felt very self-conscious in her pyjama shorts and tank top. Logan leaned in closer to her, “You haven't said a word. Why?”
He was intimidating her, and he knew this. Jerk.
Abruptly, she stood up and he leaned back. “I – I don't need to say anything.” She forced herself to snap at him and flinched away from him as he reached out to touch her. “Please don't touch me.” She told him. “You can't just barge into peoples houses and then into their bedrooms.” She was partially yelling at him, while still trying her best to be polite, but of course there was no way to be angry and yell and still be polite at the same time.
She gasped as she was suddenly pushed up against her bathroom door before she could even blink and stared into Logan's harsh glare.
“Mate or not, I'm putting my foot down to the way you talk to me. I am your mate and I am Alpha. Respect is a given. It does not need to be asked for, it does not need to be demanded.”
“Y-Your n-not my Alpha.”
“Regardless, you are in my territory and still my mate. And that still makes no difference, I have respect from everyone around this damn planet, and my mate will sure as hell give me the same. You're parents respect me. I suspect their scared to speak up to me. You really think they'd be so calm about letting a male up into your room, you think they'd let it?” She shook her head slightly and tried to take her wrists from his grasp, but he held them tighter. “And they sure as hell better not allow it. After your apology today, I thought you would change your mind and be more open to the idea of us. Clearly I was wrong.” He hissed.
“I-I'm sorry.”
“You're scared.” It wasn't a question, it was a statement. He knew. He could smell it. He could feel it. One of his hands dropped her wrist and came up to caress her cheek, he glared when he noticed her flinch slightly. “I'm sorry. I just wanted you to understand that -”
She nodded her head, cutting him off. “I understand,” Esmeralda whispered.
“Good.” Logan spoke gently, leaning down to place a gentle kiss on her neck, smiling when her heard her gasp almost silently. “I didn't come here to yell at you. I am sorry if it upset you.”
Esmeralda nodded her head once again. “I'm fine. But, would you – could you . . . let go of me please?”
“Of course.” Logan stepped away from her, gently releasing her and she watched as he walked over and sat on her twin bed, much smaller than his own. “What were you doing before I came?”
“My math assignment.”
“Hmm, bring it over here with you.” He commanded, gently patting the spot beside him twice. Esmeralda eyed the spot for a moment, before glancing up into his eyes. He wants me beside him? On my bed? With him? Together? “I can help.” He added, sensing her hesitation.
Silently, not wishing to anger him further, she picked up her work, and walked over to him.
Logan smiled gently at Esmeralda, trying to ease her tension. She placed her books on her bed and sat down crossed legged, her back facing Logan. Trying to keep her concentration, she struggled to do her math problem, even though she had effortlessly went through the others.
Glancing down, she stared at the ring on her left hand. How in the world had Logan managed to convince mom and dad to let him in my room alone?
Maybe they don't care anymore?
No, no, that's not it. They're just intimidated – that's not good.
And it's not like we're doing anything wrong, and we're not going to either, so I guess that makes it okay. Right?
Elle jumped when she felt hands on her waist, holding her gently, and felt Logan place his head next to hers. “It's cosine, not sin.”
“W-what?” She stuttered, turning her head to find his unbelievably close.
“X is the adjacent side not the opposite. And cosine equals adjacent over hypotenuse. Right?”
“O-oh! Right. . .” Esmeralda stuttered, her face slowly turning red, and she rushed to fix her mistake. “Thank you.”
She felt him shake slightly with silent laughter as he kissed her cheek softly and leaned back.
“Do you like this book?” Esmeralda turned around to see he had picked up her copy of To Kill A Mockingbird from her beside table.
She gave a small smile and nodded. “Very much. I'm almost finished. Have you read it?”
Logan nodded, flicking through some pages. “I did. I don't read a whole lot. But, this is one book I would read again and again.” He glanced up at her, smiling. “We have something in common then.”
Slowly she smiled back.
“You never really understood a person until you consider things from his point of view—until you climb into his skin and walk around it.” Logan said, reciting a quote. Giving each other another smile, Logan said, “So, tell me something else you like.”
Opening her mouth to say something, she quickly closed it. For some reason she didn't feel like sharing anything else. “Ac-actually, I think maybe you should leave? It is getting late.”
Logan eyes darkened slightly, he did not like nor appreciate the fact that his own mate wanted him to leave her. Seeing Esmeralda's slightly worried eyes as she leaned away a bit, his gaze softened.
“Okay, you're right.” He told her getting of the bed. Slow. Take it slow and cautious, Logan. Don't screw it up.
He stared at her from the corner of his eye, as she walked by him. God, she was beautiful. And all mine. Body, heart and soul.
Esmeralda stopped suddenly when they reached the front door. Logan's mood decreased dramatically and he instantly felt disappointed that his time with his mate was very limited.
“Well, um. . . Good Night!” Esmeralda forced out, nervously playing with the hem of her tank top.
Logan smirked at her innocence. She was perfect. “Sweet dreams, mate.” He replied, kissing her gently on the forehead, loving the way she had gasped at the action, and then quickly left, promising to see her tomorrow.

Oh! does anyone have a special way to remember the equations used with cosine, tagent and sin?
My math teacher uses "Some Old Hags Can't Afford Husbands Till Old Age" :P
