Chapter 16 : Solace

Logan Masters knocked on the door of his mate's house early on a Wednesday morning. His mate still had about an hour before school started, and 40 minutes before she actually had to leave. But after the previous night, he had been too eager to see his mate, that he could no longer wait to see her. Spending an hour outside her house in wolf form to make sure she was safe, was not enough. He needed to hold her, touch her, kiss her, see her, hear more than her soft breathing and calm – but at many times, erratic – heart beat.

Emily Saunders, the mother to his mate, opened the door, shock evident on her face as she stared back at him. “A-Alpha Logan?”

“I believe I told you not to use formalities when we are not in formal business conversations, Emily.”

“Yes, yes of course. Excuse me.” She stepped aside, to allow him to enter. “Not to question your actions, but is it not a bit too early?”

“Yes, well, I was eager to see my mate. I hope it's not to much of a problem.”

“Of course not, just a surprise. She told me, what happened. Well, I overheard when she was on the phone with Cara, who busy interrogating her.” Logan smiled amused, and he was overjoyed that his mate had shared the news. He was glad to know that he was not the only one to spread the word. Needless to say, everyone in the pack knew in less than two hours after he had left her house.

That didn't mean his pack would know everything about his relationship with his mate, he had more respect for her than that, but everyone just had to know that she finally accepted him, he could barely sleep last night. Not out of worry, but because of pure bliss.

“She's in her room getting ready, if you would like to go up?”

“Thank you very much, Emily.” He said, nodding his head, and then walked up the stairs.

Logan knew Emily didn't want him to go up there, he also realized she did not like him, and he could understand that.

But she allowed him in her house, because she knew even if she had not invited him in or allowed him permission to go upstairs, that he would still make it happen.

Nothing was going to keep him from his mate.

He heard the shower running, and the slight sound of his mate's voice singing as he neared the door. He smiled, stepping into the room. The bathroom door was closed, and there was some clothes laid out on the bed. He picked them up and couldn't help but glance at them, and approve of the clothes in his head. He frowned when he looked at the red t-shirt that said “Kiss Me”. His mind flashed with images of insolent males who would actually have the audacity of kissing a random girl. His girl.

He shook his head and stared at her open closet, throwing the rotten t-shirt back on her bed, he walked over to her closet and pulled out an olive green button-up shirt.

He then placed the clothes near the bathroom door, and turned around to walk towards that window, his back facing the bathroom door.

Moments later, her soft voice stopped, and the water was turned off. He could hear her getting out of the shower and rummaging around. He tried to be respectful to his mate and focus on the nature outside of her room, instead of the fact that she was currently naked less than 12 ft away.
