Chapter 10 : Chances
Esmeralda smiled as she got into the front seat of Logan's car. “Hi.”
“Hey.” He smiled brightly at her. A smile that gave her a weird, yet good unwanted feeling in the pit of her stomach.
“Hello, Logan. How are you?” John asked as he got into the car with his wife, Emily.
“Great, thank you. How are you both?” He asked them
“We're good, dear.” Esmeralda's mom smiled at him. Despite being a werewolf and her daughters mate, Emily grew fond of him. It was hard not to like him. But she was still not happy that he was Esmeralda's mate, and she would probably never be okay with that.
“Are you trying to make a good impression or something?” Esmeralda leaned over to ask Logan as he pulled out of the drive way.
“Of course.”
“But, your lying.”
“About what?”
“Your personality.” She whispered.
“Wha-?” He looked confused for a second, before he glared softly at his mate “You'll pay for that one.”
Smiling sweetly she leaned back into my seat. “What are you two whispering about?” Her mom asked.
“Oh, nothing much.”
“You know, I didn't think I'd have to have the talk this soon,” John started to say sternly. Esmeralda's eyes widened a fraction, knowing what was going to come out of his mouth. Oh no. “But I think know is a good time to talk to you, mister. Strong powerful Alpha or not, you will be getting a long, hard, talk, that you better take seriously or I'll -”
“Dad!” Elle shouted, turning around to face him, giving him a hard look. “Not needed, okay. Just. . .don't.”
He crossed his arms over his chest, but remained silent. Turning back to face the road, both Esmeralda and her father noticed Logan smiling slightly.
“Are you laughing at me, mister?”
Logan's face instantly became a blank expression and Esmeralda silently laughed. “No sir.”
Emily decided it was best to step in then, starting a conversation with Logan, so things wouldn't get awkward.
Oh, how I love you mother.

“Ah! Smeraldo! And Logan! Good to see you, son!” Betty greeted Esmeralda, her parents, and Logan at the door, giving Elle and Logan both a hug, before greeting Emily and John.
“Smeraldo!” Esmeralda stepped inside, running up to Belle and Erik, giving them both hugs.
“Hi! How are you guys?”
“Great! Mom and I made pancakes, and bacon, and ash-browns, and eggs, and toast, and coffee, and tea, and warm milk, and she took out juice and -”
“Whoa, Belle, honey, slow down.” Erik laughed, walking his pregnant wife away, into the kitchen.
“Elle!” Esmeralda smiled and looked towards the stairs to see Aaron sprinting down towards her..
“Hey, Aaron!” She smiled as he attacked her with a hug.
He pulled away smiling, but stood only a half a foot away, with his hands still on her waist. Cara had told Esmeralda a few months ago that he had a crush on her, but she pushed it aside and hoped she was wrong. Cara said she was too naive to realize. But, Esmeralda was slowly and finally realizing that her friend was indeed right.
