Chapter 7 : Serene
Esmeralda and one of her best friends, Cara Winters, continued to get ready for the party they were attending while, Adam and Logan waited down stairs with Emily and John. Logan being more patient then Adam.
Adam sighed pushing himself off the wall and running a hand through his hair. “That's it. . . I've waited long enough!” He said, irritated, making his way to the stairs.
Emily and John smiled, always having found his impatience amusing. Logan, however, did not find another man walking into his mates room appealing.
Stepping up, he gripped Adam's arm roughly, pulling him away from the stairs. “You go into that room and I will not hesitate in ripping out your eyes.” He growled.
Adam not taking the threat to heart, stared back at him, ripping his arm away. “You'll find Ellie does not mind me in her room, like she does with you. In fact we have sleepovers frequently.” He smiled, grimly, edging Logan on. “And I've also seen a lot more of her than you have.”
A loud growl ripped its way out of Logan's chest and before he could attempt to rip the head off the insolent boy, Emily quickly stepped between them, John by her side.
“Calm down, please.” She spoke softly and Logan found himself listening to her, realizing she had the same calming tone of voice his sweet mate had. “If you both care about her you will not let foolish anger overcome you.” She didn't need to specify who 'her' was they knew. They also knew she was right.
“Girls! Are you ready? Logan's here! And Adam's getting impatient as always. ” John yelled, from the bottom of the stairs.
Logan heard the quiet laughter of his mate and her friend. “Awesome!” Esmeralda said, sarcastically. Logan's anger fuelled again, knowing she wasn't happy he was in her house.
Her friend laughed again and yelled, “Be right there, John!”
Upstairs Esmeralda was sighing, self-conscious, and looking at herself in the mirror.
“You look great.” Cara smiled.
“Isn't it . . . revealing?”
“So?” Cara responded, completely serious.
Esmeralda laughed, “You're ridiculous.”
“What's wrong with showing a little skin? I'll tell you. Nothing.” Simply shaking her head at her friend, Esmeralda examined them in the mirror.
Cara was wearing a short skirt, and blue halter top, with 5 inch high heals. Her jet- black hair, straightened and flowing straight down her back. Over all she looked beautiful and she managed to wear revealing clothes without looking like a slut looking for just a good time. Cara might not have been completely innocent and the opposite of Esmeralda herself in more ways than one, but she was no slut and did not believe in having one night stands. She made sure she cared greatly for the boy before getting intimate.
Esmeralda, who was already shorter than Cara, was now two feet shorter than her best friend, instead of only one foot. Grimacing at the difference in heights, she glanced at the outfit she was forced into. It was a short, strapless, red dress, that flared out at the waist. With a pair of matching sandals to go with it, and her unruly hair had been straightened.
“Come on,” Smiled Cara grabbed as she grasped Esmeralda's arm and pulled her down stairs.
“Sweetie you look gorgeous. You both do.” Emily smiled when she say them walk down stairs.
Esmeralda blushed, “Thanks mom.” She smiled over at Adam. “How you holding you up edgy?” Glaring playfully at her, he opened his mouth to retort, but was cut off when a sharp, angry voice cut through the air.
