Chapter : 16 - Request

Esmeralda sat on her window seat as she stared out into the forest that surround her house. Her mom had allowed her to skip school considering what had happened the previous day, but she would have to attend for the rest of the week. It was now only one in the afternoon and she had already finished all assignments, homework, cleaned her room, studied and had even finished a book. She was now simply bored out of her mind.

She tried focusing on the trees outside that slightly swayed, but the only thought that seemed to be in her mind was the kiss she had shared with Logan.

Now that she had a clear mind, she did not regret it, but she was worried about what Logan now expected from her. Perhaps it was too soon to kiss him, she wasn't sure if she was ready to be with him and now that they had kissed he for sure thought that she was ready. But she wasn't sure about what she wanted.

After the kiss, she had quickly told him that her dad was probably worried and she should get inside. She then ran into her house and all but slammed the door in his face.

“Esmeralda?”

Esmeralda jumped when she felt a hand on a shoulder and heard her name spoken by his warm voice.

She turned around and stared up at Logan's smiling face. “Hi.”

“Hi. Sorry I wasn't here earlier, I had a pack meeting to attend to.” He told her, pulling her up gently into his arms. He gave her a light kiss on the cheek before glancing at her features, taking her in. “You're not sick? You told me you weren't going to school, I thought you were sick. Why aren't you in school?”

“Mom said I could stay out today after . . . you know what happened.” She told him, her voice cracking.

A wave of guilt hit Logan as he stared into his mates sad eyes. “I am so so sorry, Esmeralda.”

“I – I just don't understand. It's so unfair! I didn't do anything!” She sobbed, leaning into him as he pulled her closer to him and ran his hand through her hair.

Esmeralda appreciated how he didn't tell her it was okay, or how there were many positive things. All she wanted was for someone to hold her up and keep her strong, even though all wanted to do was just crash and burn.

She didn't know how they ended up on her bed., But as she came to her senses, she ignored how intimate it was lying in his arms with her head on his chest. She didn't feel uncomfortable, and she allowed him to hold her close. But she was sure that in a few moments she would start questioning her sanity; but for right now, she just let him hold her.

She looked up at him and smiled softly. Logan smiled back at his mate glad she wasn't running away as she stopped crying and realized where she was, he removed his hand form her hair and held her hand that rested on his chest. “How you feeling?”

“Better.” She spoke softly. “Thank you.”

Suddenly realizing just how close she was to him, she bolted upright and got off of the bed. When she turned to face him, he was standing right in front of her, wrapping his arms around her without hesitation. A few moments passed, before he spoke softly, “Kiss me.”

Esmeralda's eyes widened and she stepped back quickly, only to have his arms tighten around her, and pull her closer to him as he brushed his lips softly against hers.

Her eyes fluttered closed instantly as she allowed him to kiss her. She felt safe, she felt happy in his arms, and she loved the feeling she got from kissing him, but that scared her. Esmeralda didn't want to feel these things.

She placed his hands on his chest, and gave a slight push. Growing slightly worried, when he didn't respond, she pushed again, slightly harder.

Logan internally groaned when he felt his mate give a weak push, but he instantly pulled away from her and met her troubled gaze.
