Chapter 13: Gentleman (Remastered)

I have a busy schedule. I have to record and produce my next song and go on a date with Jacks, which takes all of my mental energy.

I still can't believe he asked me out. I don't get why a guy like him finds interest in someone like me. I don't get it.

I spent the rest of the morning searching for which song I wanted to do next.

I wanted to go softer, less dancing, more passion, and uniqueness. Fans need to see my versatility.

There was this one I did that was my favorite. It talked about traveling universes to be with a person they feel connected to.
I decided to choose that one.

I am probably going to run into Jacks when I go to the studio, Because he records before me.

Ever since he asked me out yesterday, I get so shy when I talk to him. Damien on the other hand doesn't know anything. He'll probably get mad if he sees me with Jacks, But he's my roommate, for god sake. He's the person I talk to the most, and I don't want him to know.

It was my time to record. I left my room and went to the studio. Jacks wasn't there. He must have finished early.

I started working on the song. I grabbed a Martin backpacker guitar and it sounded beautiful. I strummed the chords in a special pattern in the chorus and repeated it in the bridge.

I recorded all of the guitar parts and I used a software on my computer for special effects. I placed waves of echo and the auto-tune in my voice making it sound lightly in the background.

I spent the rest of my time recording the background vocals and the effects. Unfortunately, my time was up and I couldn't record the main vocals today. I'll just do it tomorrow.

After a very creative session of recording, I exited the studio and I saw Jacks leaning on the wall.
"Finally," he said as he walked to me.
"What are you doing here?" I asked. "Waiting for you, silly. I'm taking you to lunch. Our date starts now" He gave me a silly smile, grabbed my hand and led me to the restaurant.

How am I going to last the whole day with him? He's so charming and nice. It makes me awkward and stupid.

We grabbed something to eat and found a table. I ate my favorite, a chicken salad. He ate the same.
"How does it feel being number one on the rankings?" I asked and he grinned.
"The fans really seem to like me. I'm just lucky and blessed" he said and ate a mouthful of lettuce. I nodded and I asked him,
"what made you interested in auditioning for the show?"
"I made music for myself for a long time and I didn't get the opportunity I wanted. What about you?"
"Mostly for my family. They struggle to pay debts and my father's hospital bills. I've been dreaming of a opportunity like this one for so long"

He laughed a little,
"The opportunity just came out of nowhere right?" He asked and I said,
"yes. My mom showed me the video some random site"

Now that I think of it, that video did come out of nowhere, Like it was destined for me to see it. I mean Jacks saw it when he didn't expect it.
But how did they do that? How did they make that video appear to anyone who needs it. It doesn't make sense.

"It's insane, I didn't expect to go this far or to meet a wonderful guy like you. I expected to see people with big ego's and bad attitudes, but it's different" he said softly and I looked at him wide-eyed.
He did not just say that. Did he really call me wonderful? Wonderful? Me? I'm wonderful? What is this?

"I'm wonderful?" I asked, he closed his eyes and nodded,
"I mean what I say" he shrugged
I didn't say anything else, I was just dead for like a solid two minutes.
"Um, Adryan" he waved his hand in front of a frozen traumatized person...
me.

"I'm sorry, what?" I asked as I woke up from my current state of trauma, a good kind.
"Let's go for a walk," he said and I agreed. He grabbed his plate. I was about to grab mine when he picked it up and told me to don't worry. What a gentleman. I followed him and we left the restaurant.

We walked around the entire hotel and we talked about every topic, favorite movie, singer, book, song, music inspiration, etc. He's a really sweet and down to earth guy and I want to know more about him. He has that fictional book kind of personality, and that is rare!

We spent basically the whole day talking, laughing, and getting to know each other. He accompanied me to the front door of my room and he said,
"I had fun today. Thank you for agreeing to spend the day with me"
He grabbed both of my hands and I felt my stomach turn to lava. He leaned closer and kissed my cheek. He gave me a warm smile and left. I watched him walk away and I just stood there smiling for a few minutes.

I decided to enter my room and I saw Damien searching channels on the tv.
"Hey Adryan" he waved at me. I jumped to my bed and I laid there smiling like an idiot.
"Why are you so happy?" He asked and I said
"oh nothing. Just thinking"
"Really?" He raised one eyebrow. I nodded. He groaned and he stood up.
"I saw you with Jacks earlier," he said
"Ah... I don't think so" I said
"Do you think I'm dumb? I don't like seeing you with him"
"What is it with him? What has he ever done to you?" I asked as I stood up as well. "I don't like seeing someone take what I like!" He raised his voice.
"What?" I asked confused and he gave me the most serious yet emotional expression when he said the next thing,
"I like you, Adryan. I'm jealous of seeing him spend time with you!" He yelled and I stood there shocked.
I was about to speak when he raised his hand,
"save it, I don't want to talk about it anymore" he stormed angrily out of the room.
