No matter how many times Jungkook read the file in front of him his brain was unable to interpret its meaning which meant he was back to reading and then not understanding again, it was a vicious cycle. In fact, his entire life had turned into a vicious cycle of endless repeats in the last two weeks.
The day that Autumn had left Atlas and the others had walked in on him wrecking his entire office, the trio hadn't said a word and had simply let him be. After exhausting himself and wrecking every piece of furniture in the room Jungkook had calmly walked out of the office and into the living room where the others were and just sat among them in silence.
No one had said a thing, no one questioned him or asked why he did what he did, no one mentioned Autumn's name in the house either. It had become an unspoken rule, no one was to say her name or talk about her in the mansion, no one was allowed to go into her room and all of her stuff were left exactly where she left them.
For the past two weeks, Jungkook tried to drown himself in work and the new transaction for Sleet, the drug that had just hit the streets of Chicago. When Sleet had hit the market Jungkook had expected that they would make a huge sale after all Yu-Jin only made the good stuff but what he didn't expect was the extra demand for the drug and the extra cash they had made. It was like unlocking the door to the vault of an endless supply of cash and this was only the first trade.
He should've been happy but he didn't join the drug trade to make extra cash, he did it to get back at his uncle but ever since Autumn left even that seemed irrelevant to him now. It took all of his self-restraint and willpower not to get in his car and drive over to Autumn's apartment or workplace. Every time he tried to do so he reminded himself of the reason as to why he had to let her go, he made the right decision and was going to stick by it.
Releasing a sigh Jungkook threw his pen against the table in a form of defeat and then stood to his feet leaving his office. Downstairs Jungkook headed towards his liquor cabinet and was surprised to find Atlas seated three a glass of whiskey in hand.
"Looks like I need that more than you do." Jungkook said taking a seat next to him, he reached for the bottle and an empty glass before filling his cup.
"I thought you were never going to come out of that office." Atlas said taking a sip of his drink while Jungkook finished his first glass in one go before pouring himself another one.
"I needed to think, I need to breathe." Jungkook admitted quietly hanging his head and Atlas turned in his seat to look at him. At first, he had tried to give him space but as the days went by and Jungkook slowly let himself get swallowed in by a deep dark hole Atlas couldn't keep his thoughts to himself anymore.
"Are you finally going to talk about it?" Atlas asked looking down at him and Jungkook raised his head releasing a frustrated breath.
"What, what, what the hell do you want me to say huh?" Jungkook asked clearly agitated and Atlas shook his head at him.
"I want to know why you decided to dig your grave by sending her away. I know you JK, and I know you care about Autumn which is why I know you sent her away for a reason. Now I need to know what that reason is for this whole fiasco to make sense." Atlas said completing reading through Jungkook and he didn't even bother to deny it.
"It wouldn't have worked out." Jungkook said quietly and then looked up at Atlas locking eyes with him. "She's getting her memory back; it won't work out." Jungkook said.
"What the hell did you find out, who is she JK?" Atlas asked but instead of answering Jungkook released a deep breath and laid his head against the cool table countertop. They sat in silence like that for a while when Jungkook's phone vibrated in the pocket of his jacket and blindly he reached for it and answered without looking at the screen.
