Despite revealing his identity, he just picked up his mask and covered himself up again. "Questions and disbelief later, right now, we need to get you checked up." He reached out to me.

My jaw dropped, and disbelief was plastered over my face. I struggled to form a coherent sentence as I pondered how a human right in front of me was alive. A time machine or a cryo-pod could be the answer? No, it's the only answer. . .

"Ma'am? Are you alright?"

"Valentine!"

That should be impossible. After years of studying and deciphering the history of humans, there is no evidence or written documents whatsoever that humans fully invested in their research for time travel or cryostasis. . .at least, what we know. Perhaps he knows the answer!

Or were the conspiracy theorists right? No, no, no! Don't go down that path! Hmmm. . .I'm feeling tired. . .

I was deeply lost in my thoughts and hadn't realized that the human had grabbed my arm and swung it around his neck to support me, and so did he with Jack. "Just hang on, Val, we should be about 10 minutes away from the local clinic from this area-"

I locked my sight on the human, who now had his face entirely covered except for his eyes, his sunglasses hung by the pocket of his jacket. "Wait. . .I can. . .walk." I muttered before lifting my arm from his neck and taking a couple of steps before feeling a sharp pain in my ankle and meeting the concrete to my face. "Shi-"

My head jolted forward as I stopped abruptly, a mere inch of my snout from the ground. I turned to see the human had caught the back of my shirt, and Felicia had a hand over her mouth. Jack seemed out of it and was barely keeping himself awake.

"Woah, easy there. You've rolled your ankle, and you won't be able to walk." He said and nonchalantly lifted me to place my arm back into the same position. "We're only 5 minutes away, keep hanging in there." Felicia then decided to support my weight despite barely reaching past my chest, although I felt that most of my weight was on the human.

I winced as we continued to walk. Each step on my right foot was starting to feel like someone had freshly hammered burning needles into my ankles. "Ahh! Fuck!" I yelped.

"He-hey. . .she's not gonna make it. . .from this. . .far," Jack spoke weakly. "She has a history with. . .rolling those damn. . .ankles."

We stopped momentarily, and the human looked at Jack, then me. "Felicia, is it?" The cat's ears rose. "O-Oh, yes! What is it?" She replied. "Mind if you look over Jack for a few minutes? I'll carry Valentine from here." Felicia looked uncertain at first, but hesitantly, she nodded. "Fine, be quick then."

With a quick nod from the human and a second later, I was swept up and lifted with both of his arms supporting my legs and my back. "Woah! What the" I was taken aback by how easily he could carry me despite being shorter than me and began with a light jog.

A blush crept up on my cheeks, and from this point on, my head began to spin, and my hearing distorted. Fucking hell, those bats really did something. What a night! I cannot wait to wake up and think the whole thing was a weird, fever dream. Trying to comprehend what the hell is going on does my head in.

Passing under the streetlamps and a gentle breeze gliding over my fur, I started to feel a warm trickle of liquid from my shoulders and quiet grunts from the human. "You're a human. . .what's you're. . .you're name?"

"Uhh. . .it's Vincent. Nice to meet ya." He turned to look at me and replied. "Just relax for now, no need to stress. We're close to the clinic." After several twists and turns through the streets, the clinic was dead ahead. "You're hand. . .it's bleeding. . .check it up." He shook his head as an answer for "no". "Don't worry about me, Valentine."
