About two weeks had passed since that night, and you and Michael continued to go out at every chance you got. He would take you out on the weekends, and he would also occasionally pick you up after work if your shifts ended early enough. It was like he was always trying to find some excuse to spend more time with you.
You were spending almost every free moment together, and you still hadn't even officially established if you were "boyfriend and girlfriend." You didn't want to just assume that you were a couple, since Michael hadn't said anything about it. However, whenever his friends or someone else would tease him by calling you his girlfriend, he never corrected them. You also never corrected anyone who called him your boyfriend.
It's not like you didn't want to be his girlfriend, you just also didn't want to be the one to take the plunge and say it. You feared that one day you would finally be like "oh yeah he's my boyfriend," just for him to completely deny it and say he didn't feel the same way.
"Come on, (Y/N), you're worrying over nothing," Scarlet's voice rang out over the phone, "he takes you out at literally every opportunity he can, so I definitely think he wants you to be his girlfriend."
You had been feeling a bit guilty recently when it came to Scarlet. Ever since you had started going out with Michael, you hadn't had any free time to hang out with her like you had promised. Years prior, the two of you would practically live at each other's houses during the summer; there was never a moment where you two were apart. And now, you were letting a boy get in the way of that.
Scarlet would never tell you that it bothered her, even though you knew that it did.
You had brought up Michael's idea to her though; about her coming to hang out with you and his friends sometime. As you expected, she wasn't very enthusiastic about the idea.
"You want me to come third-wheel on your date and hang out with his delinquent friends?" she scoffed lightly, and you could envision the way she rolled her eyes from over the phone, "thanks, but no thanks."
"Please, Scar," you whined, "they're really not what you think, I swear! They're super nice!"
"Yeah, maybe to you," she retorted, "you're Michael's girlfriend, so they have to be nice to you. I'm just some random chick."
"You are not," you huffed, wondering why she was being so negative all of a sudden, "you're my best friend, so of course they'll be nice to you too."
Scarlet went silent for a few long moments, and for a second, you were afraid she had hung up. But you soon heard her let out a groan of frustration, "okay, fine," she grumbled, "I'll think about it..."
"Thank you, Scar!" you squealed in excitement, "I promise you, you're going to love them!"
"We'll see about that..." she sighed deeply, "and you better tell Michael to be on his best behavior for me, or I'll give him a piece of my mind."
"Yes ma'am!"
Now, it was another day at work. By now, you had managed to get pretty good at your job. The only downside was how busy it would get during the days, but at least the menu wasn't too difficult to memorize, and the customers were fairly nice. You had dealt with a few annoyed mothers, but it wasn't anything you couldn't handle.
Your lunch break had just ended, and you were leaving the Staff Lounge to head back to the dining room. The sound of rustling coming from the Parts and Service room stopped you in your tracks, and... you could've sworn you heard a child's voice.
