A/N: FUN FACT: my original plan for Scarlet was that she was going to have a crush on y/n, which would cause her to be jealous of Michael after they started dating. I was planning for her to sort of be his rival, but... I decided to be nice and just give her a girlfriend instead 🫠

     "Are you sure you're okay with this?" You asked for about the tenth time, gulping nervously as you sat down next to your best friend on the edge of the bed, "y-you really don't have to, if you don't want... I-I know this is kinda-"

     "(Y/N)," Scarlet quickly interrupted you, letting out a soft snort as she giggled, clearly amused by your embarrassment, "I told you already, it's fine. It's really not that big of a deal."

     "I-I know it's not, it's just..." you trailed off for a moment, feeling your cheeks burn hot as you averted your gaze away from the redhead girl in front of you, "this is... both of our first kisses."

     It was a few days after your first date with Michael Afton; you had gone to the skating rink together, and things had gotten a little too heated. You had nearly shared your first kiss with the boy, and it had you feeling rather unprepared. You were suddenly slapped in the face with the fact that you had never kissed anyone before, and the last thing you wanted to do was make a bad impression on the guy you really liked. Knowing Michael, he's probably kissed hundreds of girls in his full sixteen years of life, and you didn't want to disappoint him with your lack of experience.

     When you brought this predicament up with Scarlet, she made a suggestion that you would've never expected from her: "why don't you just practice kissing with me?"

     "Hey, whoever said this was my first kiss?" Scarlet retorted, earning a skeptical glance from you. She then offered a small smirk, before shaking her head, "I'm just kidding, it is my first."

"And... you're really sure you wanna have your first kiss... with me..?" You knew that the kiss didn't really mean anything, and Scarlet had stated multiple times already that it wouldn't actually count that way. However, that didn't stop the nervous thumping of your heart.

You and Scarlet had been best friends for as long as you could remember; you had met in preschool, and ever since then, the two of you had been practically glued at the hip. You loved her more than anyone, and you never wanted to do anything that could potentially jeopardize your friendship. So the idea of practicing kissing with her made you feel a bit uneasy.

Even as she continuously reassured you that she wasn't bothered by it, you couldn't help but be afraid that she might change her mind after it actually happened. What if you kiss her and it makes her super uncomfortable? What if she decides that she doesn't want to be your friend anymore?

"Honestly, (Y/N), I couldn't think of a better person to practice my first kiss with," she answered suddenly, making your eyebrows shoot up in surprise, "you're my best friend, and I trust you more than anyone. Besides, kissing you will definitely be better than kissing some icky boy; you know they have no idea what they're doing."

You couldn't help but snort at her playful words, lightly shaking your head as you felt yourself slowly relaxing. "If you say so..." you breathed out, "but, if you get uncomfortable at any point, please tell me."

"Same goes for you," she replied, "I should be the one asking if you wanna do this."

"Well, honestly... I'm a little nervous..." you admitted, offering a shy grin, "I never thought my first kiss would be with a girl... especially my best friend... B-But I have to do this, otherwise I'll just end up embarrassing myself in front of Michael..."
